Very solid hostel with few (little) flaws”
WM&S Hostel is brand new. We happened to be the only guests in the 8-bed dorm during our 1-night stay. Everything was clean and well presented. Lockers are roomy. Bedding is comfortable but mattresses are unexpectedly hard. A waste bin would have not been out of place. We liked the strong hot shower. Breakfast was unexpectedly generous. The price was right. Finding the place (driving) proved to be a bit tricky. We were literally in front of the place and didn't recognize the hostel due to a lack of signage. Staff was super friendly. If some more polishing is done on the details it will be almost as could as it could be.

When I arrived at 7pm, the door was locked and no one was inside. I saw a contact number on the door but I did not carry a mobile phone. I had to rely on a passer-by to give a call. Very troublesome. No food nearby. 7-11 is 1km away.

BED BUGS!!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!”
so first off I didn't care that my room smelt like mould and there but I woke up with bed bug bites all over my legs and back I dare to think how many I had crawling all over me whilst i slept!!!! there were also dead bugs on my floor and lizard poop in the bathroom (that both remained there for the duration of my stay) or that the WiFi didn't work in my room on the 3rd floor, or that the mattress is made out of hard straw because I was close to taroko gorge and that was the main thing I was there for... DO NOT STAY HERE BED BUGS!!!!!!

Mold in the rooms”
I don't recommend this place because of the inconvenient price-value ratio, mold in the rooms, the location directly besides the main road (very loud), a limited number of 5 toast slices for four people for broken, a broken coffee machine and the smoke in the room from the people smoking outside (even with closed windows).

The address on Agoda and the address on the map didn't align. The address on Agoda shows the property being located in Hualien but it is in Xincheng. There was some miscommunication in terms of the email so it made it difficult to retrieve the door key. In such a remote place, the presence of a staff would have been reassuring especially because I had to call the number multiple times having not received the information. I even emailed to ask about a later check in and there was no reply. There are no food places near the hotel.

no one-on-site to answer your question or provide service. no gabage can in the kitchen. the only one kettle is brolen. lobby is dark, faucet and microwave are dirt. no bed lighting, no map provided. the air is stuff and the bleaching smell is strong. Not good for health.

Arrived around 3pm, no one was there, called the manager(many tourist don't have number actually) she said after 5pm!! and due to that, many other late check-in guests couldn't even get the key to get in!! how is that possible!! don't be rude!!!

沒得選之下.. 也算有個地方落腳。房間有蟑螂、蟲子、冷氣機滴水、外面有人講話都聽得見，馬桶和洗手盆都沒清潔，渠蓋有一堆頭髮。

對於自駕遊的人來說比較方便 要進入花蓮市區需要段路程 或者去新城火車站坐火車 民宿設施齊備 蠻多外國朋友居住 在公共空間能聽到别人在聊自己的故事

離新城車站大約步行10分鐘 但離新城的鬧區和海邊較近 不論是要到海邊看日出或是買東西吃都方便 鬧中取靜的好地點 房間乾淨整潔舒服
