This is the cheapest place to stay in Siem Reap and it makes sense. Honestly the decor and the facilities are nice and it's very quiet there but unless you have transport it's a 20/25 minute walk into town. The room can be very very hot, no ac but also no air flow, all the windows are sealed so it's very stuffy inside, he would do better providing mosquito nets and knocking some holes for ventilation. Overall the cleanliness was good (thanks to his hard working ten year old son) though I did kill one small cockroach in the bathroom which is probably unavoidable. Overall it's a great hostel for the price, unfortunately 'uncle' himself is incredibly rude and patronising (especially to women) to the point where people were moving to other, more expensive hostels just to get away from him. Beware also of the up-selling, hot water, towels and blankets all came with an additional charge so if you want a blanket you're better off staying at Funky hostel which is only fifty cent more a night.

Uncles house was a beautiful hostel, lovely sitting area, very kind and helpful staff who spoke good English! The rooms had a fan above each bed to ward off the heat and a good pillow provided. Beds were comfortable. Bathrooms were fine if you’re not massively picky and showers are a tad cold but frankly given the heat and humidity it was a blessed relief each morning! Uncles house also serve beer and water at standard prices for the area as well as food at a cheap price, perfect for just a bite if you’re hungry. The only real downside is the location which is about a 20 min walk from Pub Street (the main action area). However, there are plenty of bars/small shops/restaurants and even a market in between you and Pub street so you’re not in the middle of nowhere! Would highly recommend

The owner and his two young sons provided an exceptional service. Nothing was too much for them. I had an enormous room, with attached balcony, overlooking lush tranquility. The facilities were a bit basic and the location was a little off the beaten track. That said, it is definitely great value for money and I would recommend this homely, welcoming establishment every time.

This was exactly what I needed after a week being way too stimulated by a party hostel in Bali. Not only is the family charming and speaks good English, but they currently have an awesome young British male of colour helping them out with bookings, housekeeping etc. This is definitely not a hostel, despite the dorm room. This is more of a slightly commercial family stay! Menu is good fo value and conveniency, there are some AMAZING proper local markets running 12 hours a day with every smell and sight you could imagine, and the whole area is tucked away from the hordes of Westerners. Just love it. Extended my stay thrice here!
