Backpacking in Taiwan? Find Taitung Hostels

"It was one of the most amazing places I've ever stayed. Great atmosphere. I felt there like at home. The volunteers make so good and positive vibes so I stayed longer then I planned. I recommend it to everybody who wants to have good time and meet lots of wonderful people. But the hostel itself needs some improvement. First of all there are only 2 bathrooms (with toilet inside) and because there are so many people sometimes I had to wait really long to use it. Second, the yoga room was so cold, I slept with the blanket and sleeping bag and jacket. There is no proper window and door so you can hear everything what is happening on the corridor and the kitchen so it's annoying if you want to sleep. And the most annoying thing for everybody was door to the kitchen and yoga room. Too loud!!I still have the sound in my mind. Terrible. You can buy something soft to stick it to the wall so every time when somebody slam the door it won't be so loud. Also tea and coffee was missing for the breakfast."

"After my great experience with this chain of hostels in Taichung I didn't doubt in choosing them for my stay in Taitung and it was a good decision. It didn't feel like a hostel since there were no dormitories (to my knowledge) but still is a very reasonably priced budget hotel. Room was nice, bedding was good and same for the mattress. The common space and kitchen were great and the washing machine and dryer were big, good and cheap. Also, the staff was very friendly and answered patiently and with good attitude to all my questions. Only complains would be that there are no bus stops in a 800m radius or so and that in the mini room the shower is a little uncomfortable (I should have expected the second one since the name implies it, but still)."

"Best place to stay in Taitung I think. Free bike, Free coffee and water, You can wash clothes for free. Very kind and helpful staff, they even upgraded me to private room coz their dorm room was full when I arrived. Near to the beach and to the mountains.. Will definitely stay again! "Initially booked for its vicinity of Taitung Bus Station, which is actually the main transport hub, and right next to the current must-visit 鐵花村音樂聚落. Upon arrival, we came across some problems that our short holiday there would have been ruined were there without the helps of the owner and his family. It was clean enough that the bins were emptied everyday. As in most places in Taiwan, water dispensers with cold and hot water available were conveniently located. All other basic facilities, including wifi, were there and functional. Didn't know about free bicycle though!"

"Wonderful place for suffers or if you just want to relax. Guang, the host is so care for others and you can really make friends there! Enjoy the sunshine the beach and playing music every night! This is literally my home in Taitung. Definitely will come back again!"

"Was a last minute decision, as my WS host not available, but for a biker this place like home, a nice place to store my bike. Clean hostel with yes a good kitchen not just got water & microwave Aisan cooking lol 😂. Good hand cloth wash area or washing machine, so if only few things you have the choice, good store & restaurant near by. Staff friendly, would stay again.."

"This hostel looks like a family/friends run business. For the price we paid (highest in Taiwan and during a weekday) I expected towel (none provided). We had to make our own beds as well which is disappointing for the price we paid. It was clean and had kitchen. However the water dispenser did not work for cold water so we had to refrigerate cold water. No universal electric plug, only taiwanese standard (other hostels have universal plug). Staff was trying to be helpful and spoke English. A/C worked fine. Bicycle can be used for free. "

"The host is willing to share about her tribe. U can really feel her love for Jinlun! I like her recommendations. All ppl I met here are friendly, passionate and lovely. I visited the Dawusan Ecocenter twice cause I’d met different volunteer/staff and the stories, vivid guide, music play by different minds amazed me. Additionally, the quality of the local hot spring is very good. In conclusion I’m glad I stopped by Jinlun and this town is surely worth staying."

"On My Way Taitung is located within walking distance from Taitung TRA Station, where most buses, including those heading to key attractions (Taiwan Tourist Shuttle) and the city centre, also stop by at. It's an ideal base for anyone who wants to explore Taitung province, though not for one who's interested in shopping and/or dining due to the lack of shops and dining outlets in the area (the hostel makes up for it by selling instant noodles and drinks). The ambience at the hostel is friendly and warm. The people who run the hostel often interact with the guests: greeting them; chatting with them about their days and etc.; and offering suggestions or advice on exploring Taitung. They also invite guests to join them in their nightly board game sessions, and are present in the common area most of the time (they stay in the hostel, too). Facilities-wise, other than those already stated on the webpage, the common area is filled with lots of information on transportation and attractions in Taitung, so you can easily do your research and planning without having to access the Internet. The hostel is very well-kept and clean, and amenities are well-stocked. Breakfast is simple (as expected of a hostel) but good enough to start the day, consisting of toast with three types of jam: chocolate, strawberry, and peanut butter. If you like to interact with people and want to explore Taitung province, this is the hostel to consider! P.S. Please note that there's no lift in the hostel, so try not to bring any heavy or roll-away luggage."

"you don't really care that there is only a mixed dormitory. It means that both male and female travelers stay at the same room. I though it could be weird but not painful. The only minus is (honestly this is not Warehouse's fault) that the downtown Taitung is too far away from the station."
