I stayed here for 7 nights as a solo traveler. The comfort room was cleaned every day which was really nice. The washroom was also well-maintained. For large bags, storage is outside the bed area, but that’s completely normal in hostels. There are lockers provided for important things, which makes it secure. I’ve experienced staying in other hostels with the same setup, but this one has been my best experience so far because of how clean and well-maintained everything was. Location is great, just a 4-minute walk from Shin-Okubo Station, and it was easy to find, even for me who always gets lost and has no sense of direction ! 😅The capsule bed was big and so comfortable for me, it made me not want to get up, I just wanted to sleep more ! 🤭 The price is cheap, yet the overall experience was really good. Honestly, if you ever find a flaw here, it’s probably because of the person staying, not the hostel itself. I even kept forgetting my locker code, so I just left it unlocked, but nothing was lost, which shows how safe it felt. Overall, very nice stay with good amenities, and I’ll definitely book here again when I return to Tokyo.
[Location] It is located right in the middle of Koreatown in Shin-Okubo, surrounded by Korean shops. The street outside the hotel has quite a few foreign guests, as do the hotel’s lodgers. I felt that it was a bit far from Shinjuku Station when walking (about 20 minutes), but it is about a 5-minute walk from Shin-Okubo Station. Convenience stores, restaurants, and drugstores are also within a 2-3 minute walk. Personally, I found it very helpful that there is a public bath nearby (about a 5-6 minute walk; it's called Mannen-yu, and I highly recommend it!). The area was lively even at night, and the train tracks were right nearby, but I did not notice any noise at all. Late-night check-in is possible, and since there is no curfew like in guesthouses, you can come and go freely. I wouldn't say the area is exactly safe, but because there are so many people, I didn’t feel too anxious. [About the Staff] I made an inquiry by phone before my stay, and someone who seemed to be a foreigner responded cheerfully and politely. There were both Japanese and foreign staff members, and both were pleasant. However, there was one significant concern. During check-in, I was asked to confirm my identity by scanning my ID… My understanding was that typically just showing your ID is sufficient for identity verification, but there was no prior notice about this when making the reservation (only guidance on showing it). There was also no privacy policy to review before the scan, which made me very anxious. Is it normal for accommodations to scan IDs???? I was so scared that I refused the scan, but they said anything that could identify me would work, so I had them scan my patient card. It seems a points card would also work. I wonder if there is any purpose in that scan... (laughs) [About the Facilities] It seems that men and women are separated by floor, so I think women can feel secure. As a woman, I stayed on the 3rd floor of the new building. Since there were only women, I was actually pleased that I could walk around in a camisole while getting ready. (laughs) There were three shower rooms and, I think, four individual toilets on one floor? There were about four sinks as well, and even though there were many guests, it never got crowded. They seemed to have amenities like shampoo, but I didn’t use them as I went to the nearby public bath. Towels, bath towels, and slippers were provided as a set during check-in (which I found useful for the public bath). There are hair dryers (not allowed to be used from 11 PM to 7 AM), hair straighteners, cotton swabs, and paper towels available. I was happy that they had an iron available for clothing. If you ask the staff, you can borrow it. It can only be used in the lobby on the first floor. The lockers are not very big, so carry-on bags or suitcases will not fit. For larger items, you will have to leave them without a lock near your capsule, so be sure to put valuables in the lockable lockers. I didn’t use it, but it seems you can also have the front desk hold your luggage. The roll curtains that separate individual capsules have high soundproofing and light-blocking properties, and I didn’t notice any noise or light from outside the capsule. I think the air conditioning was at a comfortable temperature for me, and there is a ventilation fan inside the capsule. There are also outlets and free Wi-Fi. [About Cleaning] I have some doubts regarding this. The sheets and such inside the capsules seemed clean, but there were dust piles thickly stuck between the doors of the powder room... and the basket with hair dryers was also full of dust... It was noticeable even from a distance, so I wondered how could they not notice it?? Also, the sinks on the women’s floor tend to fill up with fallen hair, so I felt that it would be good to have a broom or mop available so each person could do a quick clean-up. [Overall Evaluation] Although there were negative aspects like the scanning of IDs and cleaning issues, I still think this price in the city center is definitely recommendable. I think even beginners to capsules would be okay.
The location is really great, suitable for going alone for the first time because it is close to JR. This station has only one exit, so you don't have to find multiple exits. You can use the elevator without having to carry your bags down the stairs. I went alone with very heavy bags, but I could easily drag them along the path to the station in no time. I love this place so much; there’s a 7-Eleven and Don Quijote nearby, and close to the Korean district. Just walking out of the alley, it’s not lonely at all. However, the alley where the accommodation is located is quiet and not busy but not deserted either. What I liked the most is that there’s a hair straightener available because the one I brought usually doesn’t work in Japan. I managed to get by because there was a free hair straightener at the accommodation. However, in the capsule bedroom, it might be hot; it seems the fan in the capsule room doesn’t work very well. On the first night, I sweated so much that I couldn’t sleep, but the next night I reported it to the caretaker, and they came in to fix it. Although it wasn’t cooler, it was better than the first night. I stayed here for 4 nights, but the air conditioning in the common bedroom is cold. When sleeping, I opened the capsule curtain halfway to let the air from outside into the capsule, which helped me to sleep a bit. The area to unfold my bag is quite narrow; if someone is already unpacking, you can’t unpack at the same time. You either have to find another space or wait for the person who is unpacking to finish. If you just need a place to rest before going out to explore, I highly recommend this place because the location is good, and it is safe and convenient to travel. There are also amenities available. But if you like to rest and relax a lot, you might not like it as much because it gets hot, and it’s not very comfortable to sleep, and you have to share with others, which is normal for hostels. However, during my stay, everyone was respectful to one another. The only downside is that it’s hot while sleeping. Overall, I am very impressed; if I go to Japan again, I will stay in this area again.
Comfortable beds, nice capsule space, hot shower and all the necessary equipment, plus more- shampoo, conditioner, razors, toothbrushes etc... Location in Koreantown, quiet part of city. Would have given 5* but there is a weird, depressing atmosphere mostly due to the sombre nature of the staff. The 2 younger receptionists (new building) really need to learn how to smile (Japan is the land of smiles, right?) And need tips on communication. Any (positive) question makes customers feel like we've invaded their free time. Don't even reply when I say Good morning (in Japanese). The only happy staff member was the slightly older man in his 30s when I arrived on Tuesday. Jesus, is this really how hostels usually are??? Smile, be happy. You're living in the World's greatest city and get paid for doing relatively nothing. P.s. I didn't see any bed bugs thankfully

“Traveling solo or with same sex friends, best place for location and price”
I have stayed with 3 different capsule hotel in Tokyo and this is my observation: 1. Price is really great for location and accessible to the Yamamote line which is what most of the Tokyo spots for. 2. They clean everyday, if you prefer less, there is a caveat that if you stay for more than 5 days, they do have to clean your bed once that week but you can schedule. Also, you can leave in the morning while they clean the beds, you can stay in the room and the hotel while it's happening. The bathroom are also cleaned everyday. 3. Staff is very accommodating and give great service. I had to cancel one of my capsule hotels and unfortunately my phone does not work in Japan. The front desk, called the app and got my situation situated so I can get a refund. Second, I have complaint about the pillows because they were on the flatter side, when I asked for a second one they replace my pillow with a more ergonomic pillow that will be more comfortable on me (I have a bulging disk so sleeping on flat or big pillows are a pain, didn't want to bring mine cuz you know... Space). 3. The location is very accessible to the train, it's a literal hop and a skip away. It's also on the Korean town side of Tokyo so food options are really great and they also have some local spots to dine in if you are on a budget. 4. For anyone doing solo travel, for the love of God, you cannot talk on the phone when you are in the room. People sleep there and there's is no door for them to close and we only have a blinds to close type situation. You think you are being sneaky but we can hear you, it's a small room and your the only noise in the room. Blowdryer is also banned from 11pm-7am also for the obvious people sleeping situation. The men and women capsules are separated in floors and you have a key card to access the room. Also if you need a staff and they are not there, use the phone at the desk and dial 1 and dial the green phone sign.
