Mountains, Lakes and Greens! Awesome stay!”
I don't know how to describe my 3 nights of stay here; it has to be most enjoyable and scenic stay for a vacation ever! The location can be a little tricky if you don't commute with your own transport but once you enter the gate of "Summer Rock Villa", you feel like you're all set to get nothing less than a quality stay. I will not say it is "world-class" but every thing from decor and layout of the lakes, structure of the villa is meticulously planned by the owners of the Villa. I thoroughly enjoyed the morning conversations with the lady owner and could hardly contain how impressed I was with their villa. From their DIY aromatherapy lotions in the room to how the lakes are positioned in the vast land they occupy, I hear how these came about and the history of this place. Rooms are spacious and clean, the air around the area is perfect for a walk anytime of the day. The weather was good during my visit (late March) and there was nary a detail that I could whine or even comment on! Lady boss promised me a secret surprise when I return again (which I'm pretty sure I will) and I shall not disappoint! 5stars and *Two thumbs up*, no less.

Comfortable getaway from the city”
The villas are about 20mins car/taxi ride away from Hualien city, but it’s very convenient to get around. From Hualien airport or Hualien train station, the villa offers a pick up service (~NT300), otherwise there are a lot of taxi at the back exit of Hualien taxi. Staff were extremely helpful, also offered us a taxi call number (as convenient as uber) that’s dial-free, and by calling, the drivers give you a discount than if you flag one off the road. Room always smell great because of the essential oils the owners extract personally. Breakfast was a wholesome burger meal with lots of tropical fruits and a drink of ur choice. Stayed in a family room for 4 which is located on the second floor. Air is very fresh even during the hotter summer-autumn transition period when I went (sep). Appreciated their lovely hosting.

Home away from home”
Summer Rock wins on many fronts where it may lack in terms of convenience. From the moment we entered the grounds, we felt instantly relaxed. Greeted by their two super-smart canine guardians, Ah Ji and Ah Lai, we knew we had arrived at a special place. The owners are very friendly and always willing to help. Having not pre-booked a car for Taroko Gorge, the hostess immediately took the matter into her own hands and arranged a car and driver for us. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with all the essential amenities. For the internet addicts, wifi might be unstable at times (probably due to the number of people trying to connect to the same network), but the major telco 3G and 4G networks work fine. The high ceilings with cross-ventilation windows ensure the room is fresh and airy all the time. Bathrooms are large and clean. For those who like the Aussie bare-bricked, slightly industrial looking relaxed cafes, you will feel right at home in the cafe-check in area. It's a great place to sit back, relax and soak in the view. For those who are more active, plenty of bikes are available; there is a bike trail to the foot of the mountains. We found ourselves most content when sitting outside, by the lake, feeding the ducks and watching the scenery. The stay was so lovely we really didn't want to leave. Highly recommended for families, couples and groups of friends who are looking for a place to relax and slow down.

We had the BEST time at Summer Rock AND the staff made it extra special for us!”
It turned out to be exactly what my boyfriend and I were looking for. It was quiet, pristine, beautiful, calm, and romantic. We LOVED drinking beers and hanging out by the lake and watching the moon at night. And we rented a scooter from HuaLian train station, so it made it easy for us to get around. It's a bit far from hualian downtown area, but that's what we were looking for. We just wanted a quiet getaway where we could be in nature, away from other people. We also played cards in the dining hall and listened to jazz music and soaked our feet in the pond. It was weird that they served hamburgers for breakfast, but they weren't bad. Most of all, the owners of the hostel were super gracious and generous with us. At the last minute, my boyfriend and I were kind of in a jam and we needed their help, and they were so generous, kind, thoughtful and patient with us. They are an adorable married couple who are locals to the area, and the husband is a handyman who makes a lot of the furniture in the area. They are truly kind people, and that I think says a lot about the establishment. Thank you summer rock! My boyfriend and I stayed in 3 hotels total while in Taiwan (one of them a very expensive high-end hotel in Taipei) and he said that this was his favorite!

EXCELENT... A PLACE MUST STAY AT HUALIEN”
hi all, i would like review few thing here. 1. location, it is 15min to hualien city with taxi. but the surrounding is the best of the best. with village, farming, fresh air, water and the vege is totally is clean. is really back to nature. 2. safety.. i let my 2 son age 9 and age 3. run freely at the garden. they can feeding duck, cycling, play badminton, running freely. it totally is safe. it really make our trip full of relaxing... 3. room, big and clean.. it really nice to stay at. 4. food, got steamboat restaurent just at corner of the junction. and boss recommend we eat the whole chicken. it taste best of the best in taipei.. the best meal we at so far at taiwan. 5. honestly we will stay again and again. my kids and me really miss this place. miss the boss and lady boss. so kind and so good. both of my son miss them alot. : >. if visit hualien not staying this BnB not consider coming to hualien.

Beautiful environment, big clean rooms & excellent hospitality”
I have been to taiwan for 4th time. My expectation of a b&b is extremely high. Summer rock is excellent in all aspects. Beautiful environment, super clean big room, picture perfect outdoor, cute animals, smell nice room, free essential oils if stay more than 1 night & free tea break. Breakfast is yummy and healthy.

Wonderful scenery with hospitable owner”
We stayed 2 nights at the villa absolutely loved it. Right when you enter, you are greeted by the mountains and villa lake, as well as the hospitable owner who went out of his way to make the experience a personal one for us. There were two dogs and quite a few ducks that the owner owned, and was offering us generous amounts of animal feed/food for us to feed them. There were also bicycles to borrow. We were suggested to take a route that goes towards the mountains, across paddy fields, and back, which was about 30 minutes and very pleasant. Breakfast was wholesome, and room was very spacious and cozy as well as we stayed in a single villa. The only thing to take note of is the mosquitos-repellent is recommended as it is in the outskirts. The location to city is 10 minutes by taxi, but with the view and accommodation like this we weren't complaining-also, the owner was available on site to attend to any queries/requests as well. We love to visit again.

Great place to relax”
Very comfortable place to relax. Big, beautiful and clean room and facility are good. The Villa owners is a senior couple and they are very friendly and helpful. The view is great and they have a pond with many cute ducks. Remember to bring insect repellent and then you can enjoy feeding the ducks anytime you like. The only problem is the location, you will have to call taxi to go outside. There are only three restaurants around that area. You're better to book them before going there or you may found them closed just like what we did. Luckily the Villa owner found us and lent us bicycles to go to another shop.

A tranquil place, definitely recommended”
It is the perfect place to spend some peaceful time. The center of the Hualien is not that appealing to tourists, so staying in nature could be better. The staff was perfect. Even if their English was not good, they downloaded an app to communicate with us :) We had a great time in this hotel. We went to the hotel by taxi, it was not expensive at all.

It's was the best and most beautiful place I've ever stayed. I recommend this place for people who like to get close to nature and want to have a nice great time in Hualien. The owners were very very nice and made our stay a super enjoyable one. We had to leave early on our last day to get to cingjing, and the owner offered to pack our breakfast for us and eat on our journey, which we didn't expect. That made our day... We'll be back!

Splendid Experience”
Besides the scenic view in the premises of the villa and the relaxing environment, it is obvious that every single detail of the room was very well thought of. It's cozy, spacious and we love the over-all design. Staff were very helpful, especially the owner who assisted us, gave us food for the ducks (our baby was very entertained) and even helped us bring our luggages to the pick up point for our transportation. We recommend this place to anyone, especially for families with little kids!

Enjoyed my stay there. Like the great view and fresh air. There is a lake where we can relax and have a nice cup of tea. The owner even provide bicycle for customer to use for free. Breakfast is nice with options to choose from. Overall is very nice and highly recommended. I will go back again if I am in hualien

The Villa is located at a country side but it is excellent and charming. I fall in love with the environment the moment I stepped into the compound. The boss is super friendly. The breakfast, however, served only with hamburger which may not to the liking of some.

It was a pleasant nights stay at the homestay. Especially the great landscape where the the private land has been converted into a resort liked hotel. The owner is super nice and friendly, all needs wereEraken care without having to ask for it. The room is high ceiling, spacious and clean. The bathroom comes equipped with rain shower hose and bathtub. Everything in proper working condition. Highly recommended!

A great place to chill for family and friends ”
It is a lovely place for the urban dwellers to relax, rejuvenate and recharge. The farm stay is a family-run; the owners are 2 retirees. The farm stay is well-maintained and clean. The surrounding is well-kept. Our rooms have all the modern facilities. The children loved the place. They really enjoyed the outdoors, riding the bicycles and playing with dogs and ducks. The place is a really worth a visit which you will never regret, especially if you have children or wish to spend quality time with your family and friends. The hospitality and sincerity of the owners and its staff make our stay great, wonderful and enjoyable I would like to give them the full possible even if it is located just outside the *city fringe. *Caveat: It would be good if you can provide the driver of your hired care its address in Chinese. This would greatly help him/her to locate the farm stay with its GPS.

Like visiting your grandparents”
We LOVED this place. Our children aged 6 and 4 were so happy here. The couple who run it are kind people who love to engage with their guests. As soon as we got there the girls were taken off to feed the goats. They loved feeding the ducks, giving them a shower, walking the friendly dogs, collecting eggs, feeding the goats and 'catching' fish. We really could have stayed on the property the whole time. The room and reception/restaurant are very stylish and the view outside is stunning. The owners are kind people who do everything they can to make your stay a great one. Our youngest daughter was sick and they helped us located the hospital and when we left to return to the airport they gave us some snacks. My husband and I both said we felt like we were visiting grandparents. We would return in a heartbeat!

Scenic homestay”
Away from hualien city and night market. But minsu has a specific taxi group that gives discounts to minsu guests. The surrounding is beautiful and v relaxing. A refreshing change from city life.
