Guanacaste Province hotels & accommodations
Westin playa conchal Stay from 1/9-1/14 Room overrun by ants - asked them to spray but that didn't do anything. Ants were all over the sink and the wall. Tried to use our own spray which helped some but ants were back all over by the end of the week Got food poisoning on the first night that landed me in my room the whole next day. Didn't give us the Costa Rica res...
Everything was excellent, except for the fact that we had phoned a day ahead to ask if we could leave some of our luggage at the hotel for 2 nights before our stay while we headed up to the volcanoes and were told that it definitely would not be a problem. Upon arriving we were told that was not true and that we would not be able to leave the luggage there. We did end ...
I absolutely loved everything about this hotel. From the dedicated and outrageously helpful staff, to the fantastic little cottage with a massive clean bathroom with loads of space to put your toiletries.. the hot water was HOT and the pressure excellent. They proved a hair drier which was so helpful. I loved my room, two double beds and a good sized fridge and plen...
We are huge fans of AM resorts (Dreams, Secrets, etc.) and Costa Rica. This is our 3rd visit to this beautiful country and its kind sweet people. . Imagine our disappointment... This resorts is incredibly mismanaged. The workers in their majority look unhappy which probably explains the poor quality of service we received. The food and liquor are below the company stan...
We were staying in hotel for 4 nights and it was great. It is located a little bit out of town but you can go 15 minutes to the beach Samara or rent a bike and you have few minutes to the beach. Room is big and comfortable with great hot shower. Staff is friendly and on every step you can get their help. Samara is beautiful so I recommend everybody to stay here. The be...
If you're staying a night in Liberia to rest up from your travel day... it's perfect. they pick you up from the airport and the son was waiting for me at the outside gate. the family is very pleasant, the rooms very clean and had all the things you need for a night... a/c, fan, cable, hot showers... and the villa is only 1km from the central park area. they even have a...
Rooms are small but had everything I needed. Completely updated and clean. Worth more than the price. I stayed in other hotels across the area that were way more expensive but were awful dirty places. Staff was great. I didn’t eat there but the lil garden cafe is adorable and the menu looks great. My only complaint is that they were doing construction that started at ...
All aspects here were as good as it gets. Rooms were clean and large, beyond friendly owners who are there to help in any way, and a great location. Make sure to have breakfast as well, as their chef cooks a tremendous meal
Was really nice, good place for adventure, nice canopy, hot spring water.
Great location.. clean room great little pool... no hot water for the shower only. Negative. Loved this place.
Wonderful hosts. Family atmosphere. A great place to stay in Playa Negra!
We had a 3 night stay at Belcruz. This is a lovely family-run B&B. The location is quiet and about 10 minute drive from the main town but this was no problem for us. Our room had a beautiful view and wifi. The shower was lukewarm with the pressure turned up but beautifully hot when turned down a little. The breakfasts were great - homemade granola and the best pineappl...
Great location, awesome hospitality! reccomemd the surfing class, great place to meet and make new friends!
EXTREMELY GOOD WIFI Very good breakfast options (included) Right next to the beach Communal kitchen was great for preparing meals. Staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. Rooms fully cleaned daily
The guesthouse was clean, comfortable, chill & fun. By far the best thing about Pura Visa Mini Hostel are the staff, extremely knowledgeable about the country, accommodating, kind, helpful, friendly & fun. The dorms were clean & comfortable & the main social deck area is set up with beanbags & rocking chairs to sit or snooze in. Its close to the beach and with in...
Maybe because it was empty, the hotel was dark.
I had a very relaxing time there the breakfast was good and the hotel was not noisy and crowded like the bigger hotels
After many flights we arrived hot and exhausted. We dumped our bags in our room and jumped into the lovely pool. Dinner and breakfast were delicious and the staff friendly and helpful. Recommended.
It was a short but pleasant stay. Really enjoyed the pool and bar area which has a spectacular ocean view. The hotel is right on the edge of town and walking distance to everything. The girl at the front desk was extremely knowlegeable and helpful. Would definitely go back.
The hotel was close to town, nice hotel, the facilities were great! The staff very helpful!
We had a great time and loved the location. If you are expecting to be in one of their many beautiful bungalows, you should ask if that is what you are getting when you book. Not all the rooms are in bungalows and this was a disappointing surprise to us.
Our stay was comfortable and met our expectations. The air conditioner in our unit was extremely loud.
I was looking to relax after a very demanding year and Pasatiempo really delivered. The staff is attentive, very friendly and fast if you have any issues. My room was clean and in a good condition. The hotel gardens and the small but well kept swimming pool are great to relax in the sun. The hotel offers booking for a variety of trips, mainly in and around Tamarindo bu...
Bad signage if trying to find it at night, other than that the place was grand. Looking for another trip in vicinity more remote and maybe less luxurious.
We had a nice time. When the housekeeping staff came in to clean while we were there, they did no wiping of the bathroom. Once, they left us no towels. The refrigerator was missing and we had to call to get one. The room was lovely and the beams in the ceiling (I will never forget) Golf carts for hauling guests around would be helpful. Our family loved Oscar. He was ...
We travel a fare amount and always look for places with good reviews and affordable. Hotel Belvedere was amazing and the owners and staff were great. You could walk to town from and super quiet. Rooms were outstanding and will stay there again. Thanks to them.
Amazing location - near by Nepenthe hotel in town El Castillo, 30 min away from La Fortuna town, 40 min from away la Fortuna waterfall, and Mistico hanging bridges, 25-30 min from hot springs and Arenal National Park. A bit of dirt road to drive to, but even with sedan car it’s accessible, we hear a lot of toucans while driving and saw one :) Staff is really helpful,...
Agi is a gracious host. So helpful and kind. The wildlife viewing is phenomenal. The room was clean. Although I couldn't pick up the wifi I highly recommend!
Super well located, very pleasant, staff ver helpful. We done a day tour hike and was great. Food is pricy.
This place is off the beaten track — perhaps not by Costa Rica standards. Great place to stay. Staff is fantastic. A little rustic but close to the rain Forrest, volcano, and other attractions in the area.

Right in the middle of Tamarindo, a touristy surf-town is this awesome hostel. Great prices, awesome people, and tons to do nearby. You can walk to the beach in about 5 minutes, and surfboards can be rented for around $10 per day (ask the locals, not the shops). Such a great place to spend a few days!
Great location, awesome hospitality! reccomemd the surfing class, great place to meet and make new friends!
Everything was clean organized and staff very helpful and friendly. Love the location, would definitely come back again. The property it self might need an update, mattresses need to be updated. But over all very nice experience
The lodge is in a beautiful setting with a good pool. The owner and staff were friendly and helpful. When there were some small problems, they quickly accommodated our needs. The beach is a short walk away, and there is a delightful bakery close by for breakfast and meals. We were thrilled to see turtles at night through a tour they booked for us.

great restaurant for breakfast and dinner, very reasonable and good costa rican dishes, rooms very clean and efficient, staff very accomodating

Fabulous little hotel right on the beach at the edge of the National Park, so you can hear the surf rolling in. Easy access for Playa Grande, the National Park for boat trips through the mangroves, and Tamarindo beach centre. Clean and efficient. I had a plague of flying ants one night and they fumigated my room the next morning to solve the problem. They will arrange ...
Lovely spot, aesthetically pleasing architecture, great pool, comfortable beds, nice staff. No restaurant, no full bar, no choice in included breakfast. We went to restaurant nextdoor or across way for food and drink or walked “to town”. I’d stay again. We loved its simplicity.

Very close to town. Clean room, great breakfast, wonderful pool and fantastic staff
Wonderful hosts. Family atmosphere. A great place to stay in Playa Negra!
A pleasant quiet hotel with good facilities. It would be improved by having a fridge in the room. Friendly staff and a small but good breakfast. Very conveniently located for the beach but far enough awY to be quiet
EXTREMELY GOOD WIFI Very good breakfast options (included) Right next to the beach Communal kitchen was great for preparing meals. Staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. Rooms fully cleaned daily
I was staying in the 'double room' for one night and was very happy with the room and the hotel in general. The room was super-clean, well maintained, newer AC unit, updated bathroom with newer fixtures. The hotel itself is within 10-15 min walk from the bus terminals, lots of restaurants, bank etc. within easy walking distance. The staff was polite and attentive and s...

The biggest negative was the road in the potholes. Everything else was very nice. We wish him the best of luck.
Great place to spend the night. No food available however they called in express for us. Charming hosts.
Good location clean and the staff very nice, near to the see and the street with bar and restaurant, cleaning every day, I will definitely get back in this hotel apartment.
I paid $ 80 for two nights (with tax) and got a tiny room, with no air conditioning, and no real windows. Since the hotel is right next to the street, it smelled horribly of fuel and burnt meat all the time. At some point the smell was so thick, that I had to rent a surfboard and go out in the ocean to get a breath of fresh air.. location is not the greatest.. the staf...

Set up on the slopes of the volcano, within its own forested area, Buena Vista lodge is a great experience for a few days. Although it also caters to outside tour groups (making it busy during the day), there are lots of things for the hotel guests to do. The forest walks are great - a network of hanging bridges allow you to get up to just below the canopy and be on...

Great if you are 20 and don’t care about being screwed over. Dissent fly for seasoned travellers to try and downgrade a room that you paid for. They are first come first served and don’t care what you hooked. Highest earliest bidder gets it.

We had a great time, felt that it was too short of a stay. Highly recommend. Pool and the surroundings are awesome. Not a huge place, so not a lot of people to deal with, just a few snooty people, just ignore them. Lol. Easy to walk to town and the beach from this place, not that far, about 5-10 minute walk. Very secure place. The assistant manager, Kevin, is an awesom...
This is a great option to just do nothing. The place is very quiet and there are not too many activities. They have an agenda, but the activities are not tiring. The view and facilities are nice. The Hotel beach is very small, but the view is quiet an nice. As you can see the best word that fits to this place is: QUIET/CHILL/REST. I highly recommend the Spa. They have ...
The beach is a public beach which is kind of cool because you get to watch the surfers and folks walk their dogs. The lounge chairs, ( some need repair ) I believe, are saved for hotel guest. To one side of the beach is more public access and a lush national forest. There are rocky parts around the Occidental beach that make it difficult to walk the distance of th...
The resort was very nice and the room was adequate. It was a bit of an older style that’s probably a few years away from remodeling. The only downside is that it’s about 12 mins away from the nice beach. It’s own private beach is not that great. But for less than half the rate of the closer resort, it was a reasonable bargain that worked for us and we had a great time....
