Old Doha City hotels & places to stay

We had a lay over in Doha and booked this hotel as it was close to airpot (free shuttle and only 5 mins away). The reception staff were very freindly and happy to help. The rooms were very spaces and very well decorated. You get free use of the spa, which was very relaxing and again the staff were very freindly. The hotel is only about a 20 walk to the harbour and about 15 walk to the main bazzar. If i was to visit Doha again, I would stay at this hotel.

I arrived at 1.30am due to a late flight but hotel staff were friendly and efficient, helpful and even offered me complimentary dates on arrival. The hotel room was large, and clean and above what I expected. Due to hot weather, the locals sleep in the day and stay awake long into the night, but even though hotel is in prime location of old doha, my room was peaceful and dark and I slept well

i always prefer to stay in this hotel because it has.a complete package. it is affordable, got great location and has kitchenette(thats what im looking for really). but one thing changed it. i booked for my bday and i needed a housekeeping at 12mn. i know its late but im sure its 24/7. so i called the reception and he told me that only 1 housekeeping is available and i told him i can wait. he asked me again why i needed a housekeeping at this hour. of course i needed it. i had a party. before that incident at past 11 i rang the reception to look for one of the staff i know. his reply was very impolite. one last thing. i called him(yes again) at 4am coz the other room is causing singing on the top of their voices (yes again at 4am) and we couldnt sleep. he told me to just go that room and talk to the guest inside.. just sharing. hopefully this will.not happen again. thank you.

I really had good stay at Gokulam Park Hotel, I found one of the best ever Hotel Services in any other hotel. The staff is really cooperative and smiley. When they saw my 2 kids with me, they upgraded my room without any differenc in the price. The room is quite big, and the sitting area is good also with very nice furniture. Although the location of the Hotel is not at highway, I did not face any difficult in finding the hotel. The hotel is near to the best traditional market in Doha, it is Souq Waqif. It is only 5-7 minutes from the hotel. Also, it is not so far from other good areas to visit, such as Corniche, Meusiume, Katara, and City Center Mall.

We had a great experience with Horizon Manor. In many ways, it is like a five star hotel, but cheap. Beautiful, always clean with fresh towels and a tidy bed, not to mention the best staff there is. They helped you with everything, and even provided free transport to the airport. We booked an ordinary double room, but got a huge room. So amazing! The food was also delicious and the rooftop was mesmerizing. If I have to comment on something, it would have to be the poor selection of equiptment in the gym. Otherwise, I would recommend this hotel to everyone! You cannot get a better hotel with this awesome view to a better price anywhere in Doha. Thank you so much Horizon Manor :-) Hugs from Norway

We had a very comfortable stay at the Moevenpick hotel in Doha. We could see the Corniche & Museum of Islamic Art from our window and Souq Waqif was a 10 min stroll away. We were welcomed with delicious complimentary snacks in Reception which are served between 5 & 6pm. The room was large, the bed & pillows were lovely and the curtains very thick so we slept well! As we hadn't booked for breakfast, we ordered room service and had excellent omelettes & coffee. You can get a map of Doha from Reception and there are always cars available to take you where you need to go. There is a small outdoor pool which catches the sun in the morning. There is also a bar but we found it very smokey

I checked in late at 3am due to immigration long queue in Doha airport, but the airport transfer driver still waited for us at arrival gate. It was 2 hours of waiting. Thank you Raju. Plus, we were given extra 2 hours stay until 2.30pm before we checked out due to our late check in. A basic hotel but with warm hospitality. Thank you again. Highly recommended. Near to Souq Waqif, beach. And in front of Masjid. The beriyani next to the hotel is so delicious!

I enjoyed Doha, glad I visited the city during an airline stopover. Safir Doha Hotel was an excellent choice. Once again, Agoda helped me pick the perfect hotel to fit my budget. As always, Agoda customer reviews were extremely helpful and accurate. The staff performance could not have been better, extremely helpful. The room was nice size, cozy bed, fast free wifi, nice bathroom. The buffet breakfast was excellent and the restaurant opened very early (4:30am) for those guests like me who had early departing flights. The hotel even provided a free 5am shuttle to the airport. One thing that should not be missed in Doha is the large souk (old outdoor market) which is a few minutes away by taxi. Best enjoyed in the evening when temperatures drop. The modern Doha skyline can be viewed across the road from the souk. If I return to Doha, I will definitely stay at Safir Doha Hotel again.

when i checked the review through agoda i found it pleasing but once i reach there for check-in receptionist were not as freindly as supposed to be compared to other hotels at doha. i had booked my room including my breakfast but nobody find it necessary to inform me about my breakfast timming and venue.wgen i try to ask it from my room i couldnt even find any contact no or extension for the reception desk. whn i woke up and try to check about my breakfast with the housekeeping guy he informed me that i am already running out of time anyway it people were kind enough to arrange me some breakfast at the end at my room after i requested to some random guy from resturent.

Stayed for a night. Check in and check out was quick. Was upgraded as my room was not available. I now remember I checked in way early, but that didn't seem to click with receptionist, to my benefit! Room was clean and comfortable, fast free wifi. Breakfast was very decent; you won't leave hungry. Souq Waqif for shopping and Corniche for a nice run near by. If you want a decent place in old Doha, this is it. There are many hotels nearby, so getting a taxi to anywhere is not a problem. As small as Doha is and as close as the hotel is to the airport, get a print out of the location if it's your first time, as the taxi driver may have no clue. Found the hotel thanks to the large sign on the building.

Very nice modern design hotel with a good bar having life in it, which is unusual in Doha! Room was well equipped, sizeable and comfortable and internet was fast. Booked additional night as stay was extended and although booking room only I was given free breakfast from the manager, as I was staying and had brought guests for dinner the night before. Close proximity to the airport and central to most main roads in and out of the city. Will use in future for upcoming business trips

We had a 20 hour stopover in Doha so booked this hotel to enable us to get some sleep. As a transit hotel it was great value for money with a shuttle bus that picked us up on arrival and a huge suite for a family of 4. The room included great airconditioning, amazing blackout curtains (we slept between 8am-2pm and it felt like the middle of the night), amazing kitchen facilities (microwave, toaster, stove, fridge/freezer, bottled water, washer and dryer) and a lovely warm pool. At the tail end of a long trip we didn't have the energy to venture out so I cannot comment on the location in terms of the city centre, however it would be one of the closest to the airport (and considerably cheaper than the internal airport hotel). Only a few negatives which probably could have been resolved had we pursued them (only 2 bath towels in a suite for 4, no extra toilet paper, hairdryer not working). Took the opportunity to visit Doha for 2 nights on our way from Asia to South America. Copthorne Hotel came up top in our search for a reasonably priced room in a good location. We arrived at the airport just before 5 a.m. and used an aiport taxi to reach the hotel (meter taxi was 39 real). Check in was smooth. Rooms are fairly sized with high cealings, large windows and a spacious bathroom. I would note that our room was facing the main road with constant stream of traffic. Thus, I would recommend requesting a rear- facing room , if you are light sleeper. In the morning we had to use the concierge to send out an urgent parcel through Qatar post. Javid, the concierge , was most helpful, taking on the chore on our behalf. Overall, we were very impressed with the service at this hotel. Location wise, the property is 15 minutes walk to Souq Waqif, Corniche and Museum of Islamic Art. However, I would recommend taking taxi (starts at 4 real, min. Fare 10 real) to move around the city as like other middle eastern capitals it's not pedestrian friendly (some taxis will try and skip the meter and negotiate a flat fare which I understand is illegal - insist on having the meter on). We would certainly come back here again for a short stay.

I travelled to Doha for 18days to visit my girlfriend who works out there. I booked this hotel only for a back up in case I could not sleep at my girlfriends apartment. Lucky, I only had to stay 1 night at the hotel. The hotel itself (the reception, life and stairs) is ok, and clean. I never really spoke to the staff there as I was away a lot but they were friendly when I did. My room was very basic and dark as thick curtains (inoperable) blocked out all natural light. When I spent my 1 and only night there, the whole room stank of smoke and Tabaco. I am a non smoker and it was disgusting. I stated while booking that I wanted a non smoking room. my room in the whole time I was there was never cleaned and the sheets on the beds when never changed. I only use the room as a back up so i didn't bother to complain about these 2 issues. On the day i checked out i went to my room to gather my things, and somebody while i was away had been in my room and left me a nice surprise in the toilet. Not sure what they had been eating but it didn't look healthy. And they must learn to flush if they want to do a sneaky poo in someone's toilet. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone but if you were only using it as a back up and want a cheap room, then go for it.

Great value for such a price. Clean and spaciuos apartment. I would recommend this hotel, especially for medium and long term stays. The staff are very friendly. On the other side, the hotel is loctaed in a popular commercial area. it is not well known for taxi drivers in Doha. No room service or restaurant. You have to arrange for your own breakfast, all necessary kitchenwares and kitchen equipment are provided. House keeping provided only twice a week.

The room stood out! Comfortable bed, T&B, and amenities are all new and high quality. The value of money for hotel and free breakfast were the best deal in Doha..The staffs were all polite and professional in their service. Late checkout at almost 3pm was possible and really appreciated, maybe it depends on the availability. Overall stay was great and highly recommended.

Enjoyed staying there, close to souk walegue very nice place to visit full things to do and see... Went to a very nice Indian restaurant,ate well, nice walk to the Cornish boardwalk , leads to main Doha city, All in all good choice Be sure to checkout or in before mosque prayer period cause you can't get in or out during prayer, the mosque is situated right in front of hotel door, it lasts about 15 min. And there are about 150 people praying when we were there. It is not that disturbing in the morning for the first prayer it sets you in the atmosphere of the life style there, the culture, feels like a safe place. Not very many women in close area, no need to cover arms and legs to visit around, tourists well accepted

Got newly renovated rooms, spacious one. The hotel had some old rooms, but said that if you book Agoda you will be given newly renovated rooms. Only problem is no dedicated parking and parking slot will depend on your luck. Hot water is not really hot but Doha is not a cold place so no issue for us. Hotel doesnt provide bfast but Indian restaurant ground floor like USD 8 for 3 of us.

The manager who helped us solve our issue about booking has spoken to us very calmy and made assure of us. He deserves to be the manager. And even asked if there’s any else they could do to make our stay even more better. The staffs as well are well trained in communicating with guests. I’d like to commend about the breakfast too. Nice food, ambiance and staffs. Our whole stay felt like home! :) so much thankful!!!

The location for the hotel is amazing. It is family oriented and well situated in Old Doha which makes it easy to reach for the main attractions in Doha; Katara, Islamic Museum, Villagio, Souq Wagif, Orient Pearl, etc. very convenient. Staff was generally very nice in reception, room service, breakfast waiters and chef they were all very attentive and friendly, except for one reception staff who needs to work a little bit more on his facial expressions and maintaining eye contact with guests. The hotel is very clean and rooms are very convenient. While checking in, our room got a little delayed and one of the staff has sincerely apologized and provided us with a complementary fruit basket to make up for it, which we though is very nice and thoughtful. During breakfast my wife took a yoghurt which turned out to be 4 days expired (on the cap) the chef came in person to express his apologies, which we found to be thoughtful as well. It was the only one in the bunch that was expired, so I am thinking it must have been a sincere mistake. The lobby is a smoking area, so not convenient for sitting with your children or on your own if you don't like smoke. Overall the hotel was very good with underground private parking if you have a car. Staff friendly. Location great. Value for money is awesome. Food is good. Recommended.
