hi all, i would like review few thing here. 1. location, it is 15min to hualien city with taxi. but the surrounding is the best of the best. with village, farming, fresh air, water and the vege is totally is clean. is really back to nature. 2. safety.. i let my 2 son age 9 and age 3. run freely at the garden. they can feeding duck, cycling, play badminton, running freely. it totally is safe. it really make our trip full of relaxing... 3. room, big and clean.. it really nice to stay at. 4. food, got steamboat restaurent just at corner of the junction. and boss recommend we eat the whole chicken. it taste best of the best in taipei.. the best meal we at so far at taiwan. 5. honestly we will stay again and again. my kids and me really miss this place. miss the boss and lady boss. so kind and so good. both of my son miss them alot. : >. if visit hualien not staying this BnB not consider coming to hualien.

My husband had call 1day before we checkin to enquiry about location which the owner Huang Ma Ma pick up his call & was extremely helpful to arrange a cab which we paid her TWD2800 to pick us up from train station & proceed to Toroko Gorge, ours sightseeing & dinner at night market than proceed to checkin in the evening. From checkin till checkout was all arrange by Huang Ma Ma due to our early departure next day she even arrange to book a cab to send us to train station for our next destination to Kenting. Breakfast is cooked in their kitchen so it really feels like a homestay it was simple toast sandwich with egg, ham & veggie come with potatos, fruit also free flow of hot drinks. Our Quad room will big, neat & clean nice decor with pink colour attach balcony & my 2 boy age 16 & 12 enjoyed their stay there very much & highly recommended sheep house if you are in Hualien

The rooms are huge! With all that room, you may want to consider drawers and a hanging rack for coats and shirts. The shower stall could also use hooks and a horizontal surface to put ones toiletries. Breakfast was satisfactory. Location is a bit far from the center but not too far to be inconvenient. Upon arrival, we were informed that our check in time was 6pm!! Considering industry standards average around 2-3pm; this was unacceptable.

This b&b is lovely, gorgeous location, close to shops, lovely big room with a lot of consideration taken for things guests may need and lovely little snacks and water which is handy. The best part is the hosts though, absolutely lovely couple, who speak multiple languages, and are so considerate and helpful. we made a mistake by not booking our train to taipei early and realized at the last minute all trains were sold out, and we were assisted in getting tickets at the last minute which was much appreciated. Also, we arrived in the afternoon/evening and they were kind enough to arrange a lovely tour guide to take us through Taroko Gorge the very next day at a much better price than we had been able to see online ourselves. overall fabulous place to stay, very relaxed location and close to everything you need, wouldnt hesitate to recommend to anybody or come back again. Thanks guys!

We had a wonderful time staying at the White Palace B&B, the hosts Neil & Cheryl were wonderful people and have been very helpful through out our stay. The house was nicely decorated and kept at the highest level of cleanliness & hygiene. In fact the place could easily warrant a 4 star hotel status. We occupied the 'Gold Coast' suite, and it was very spacious with a big ensuite shower room. The room was kept spotless and look out to the distant mountain range. There are 8 rooms to choose from & the larger suites on the first floor are mainly family rooms. Our room is on the 2nd floor and they even have a lift to help take our heavy luggages up to the room. The host are both local to Hualien although they had lived in Australia for a while & returned back in recent years. So they can both speak Chinese & English, and happy to help with any advise on travelling or tips on restaurants and places to see around the area. As we are only staying for 2 nights, Neil kindly managed to help reserve a tour of the Taroko National Park at the last minute. The deal worked out well costing only NTD700 each, but it is with a Chinese speaking tour group (which is fine as one of us speaks fluent Chinese). This worked out well with us and saved us the trouble of trying to use the local bus & taxi service to get around. Finally, we are very lucky to have such fine weather during our stay. The house has really lovely gardens and the grounds are well kept with a nice fish pond next to the breakfast room. One of the best treats was the wonderful breakfast that Cheryl prepared for us in the morning. It is all veterinarian and freshl;y made using local produce in huge portions. The hostess believe its a good start to the day & fill your belly full so you don't need to worry about finding lunch if you are going tracking or on a long tour. We had two of the best days staying at the White Palace & exploring beautiful Hualien. We would highly recommend this little small paradise & hope we could

Fabulous stay at jing b&b. We stayed in the blue double room and one of the quadruple rooms. Impeccably clean with generous sized rooms and extremely large and comfortable beds. Ms Liu is an extremely warm and friendly host who made us feel right at home. Great facilities/common area on the ground floor with a living room and kitchen. Location is a bit out of the way from hualien city but no issues if you have access to a vehicle. No breakfast provided which was not a problem for us. Overall, thoroughly recommend Jing B&B!

This hotel is suitable for families with small children as well as couples. We especially love the swing and the table football at the entrance. :) we really had a great time there. oh.. and a vending machine selling beers! We stayed there for 2 nights and we did not make any plan during our stay in Hualien. The staff were very helpful and gave us lots of suggestion. She even recommended some books for us to read which we borrowed. We only made a last minute arrangement with the hotel to take us to Liyutan the next morning after breakfast. Mr. Hsieh happens to be available and he ferried us personally in his own car! Along the way he made numerous suggestion and also help us made some impromptu arrangement with a certified light propeller plane flying school :) that was the highlight of the day! The staff also helped us made booking for train tickets online for us and even went the extra mile to collect the tickets for us at the nearest 7-11! Highly recommended!! And I will insist to stay at Jimei if I'm in Hualien!

Great hosts from the minsu with 2 cute dogs! Offered to fetch us from the Ji’An train station when we reached. We were brought to a lovely house, which gives a very cosy and relaxed feel. We were brought to our room with view of the pond and chilling area. Nice! Drinking Water and hot water provided at the dining area. They gave us a map of where we can check out. We loaned their bicycles for free and got to roam the beach/ park and night market. Quite safe to ride on the road. Knowing we have to reach HuaLien station early in the morning before our day tour, they helped us called cab. Giving us ample time to have breakfast nearby. Gave us the cab number too to call when returning back. At night, hanging out at the chill out area was great. Nice warm lightings with sofa or high chairs to sit on. Free pomelo at the tabletop to munch on. On the day of check out in the morning, they brewed us coffee to go with our breads. Coffee was awesome! Even served us sliced fruits too. They drove us to the train station, thankfully, cos it was raining heavily.. Would love to have breakfast included the next time we visit! Thank you for making our stay enjoyable!

Really enjoyed my stay in this squeaky clean, quaint B&B halfway between the Hualien and Ji'An railway stations. The host was very friendly and made the stay all the better. Facilities are absolutely five star. Internet worked great. Huge new Sony TV with international satellite stations. Water pressure in the shower is out of this world! I was able to borrow a simple bicycle and explore the area. There's a lively area near the McDonald's in Ji'An on the way to the railway station. Great local food options there. You would need some night transportation (like a scooter or taxi) to get over to the night market, but the Ji'an night area was good enough for me. I'd definitely stay here again.

I travelled down from Taipei to Hualien and the host (Xiao Mei) is very helpful to arrange a cab driver to pick us up at the Hualien train station. The home is located outskirt from the city centre, so its a cab trip everytime u need to go somewhere. But the best part is you can relax and enjoy the homestay and it comes with good breakfast every morning to kick start our day. Xiaomei also provide us with info on where to travel around Hualien and providing us the washing machine to wash our clothes. Overall its a good experience at the homestay and i will recommend to our friends!

The impression started way before the actual stay... First impression I had of the B&B was when browsing thru the internet for a lovely hotel for my stay in hualien. Their website is beautiful and felt like I would like the stay there. And so I made the booking. Then comes the planning of our 3d2n in hualien. We rang up the B&B boss and he recommended us some places to visit. We felt his friendliness and earnest attitude towards his customers. The next few exchanges and discussion were thru emails with prompt responses. We simply heeded all his advice for the trips since he should know his place better.. The first day we reached hualien station around 1pm and he was there waiting for us. The beautiful and memorable stay in hualien begun since. He started introducing the streets and some brief history to us... Then we reach the B&B. There were staff welcoming us at the door and brought us up the room. The room had some simple decorations, wooden flooring, a TV, but was very cosy. Best of all is the cleanliness and comfort of the bed. The toilet is clean, provides towel and toiletries. The boss also help us book taxi to tour the city. The taxi driver cum tour guide also did a great job by bringing us around Taroko, introducing all the spots we went. Next memorable part was the breakfast and I simply love it! The boss would also spend some time chatting with you over the stay in hualien during breakfast hours. Overall, could feel the love they put into producing every single thing for their customers. It's a worthwhile stay :)

If you love birds and walking in the countryside, it's for you. Very quiet - hotel is a house, managed by a very nice retired teacher that lends you his umbrella and his bicycles if you want to move around the hotel area (rice fields and farms and houses, not too near from each other - quiet and fresh). Rooms are nice, clean and simply elegant. No neighbors and no outside noise - for internal quiet, it depends whether you are lucky or not (children can scream quite high). Breakfast is quite good. Only con, already mentioned by others : a bit isolated. Not a problem if you have a car, but otherwise, count around 450 Taiwanese dollars (around 10-12 euros) from Hualien Train/Bus Station to the hotel (and have the hotel number ready, as the taxi driver will probably need to phone the hotel to check the address). We stayed one night, the owner drove us back to the city in the morning for the cost of the petrol (200 Taiwanese dollars). Incidentally, I forgot my computer charger on the room, and they brought it back to the city center, where we still were, the next day, which was very nice of them (and without any charge may I add). One other point => if you have no easy way of transport, have diner before coming to the hotel - or be prepared to walk to the nearest place that holds a shop (around 15 - 20 mn walk - an easy and comfortable walk to an area with a few small street stalls and a local grocery store). Luckily for us, we had eaten a lot and late in the day, so we just bought biscuits and dined on it with yoghourt, but if you have hungry kids, better have a car or a full stomach when you arrive. Overall, charming experience and a welcome change from city hotels (if a little pricey, but then we were there during chinese new year and everything was pricey - and full).

Wendy Garden is run by a middle aged couple. I can tell they have put so much of effort in every details of the hostel to ensure the guests stay happily in this place. From every plant in the garden to every decoration in the hall, everything is perfectly maintained. I was so surprised that they have run the hostel for eleven years. They serve good breakfast, the best breakfast we ever had throughout our trip in Taiwan.The room is spotless clean. The ambience of the hostel is so relaxing. The garden is perfect for the kids to run around while the adults can enjoy reading with a cup of tea. The dining hall is so cosy and they even prepare a reading corner with plenty of books. The only regret is we only stayed one night here.

It will be great if you can call the owner ahead, or inform your arrival time before reaching. They are very friendly and they offer to pick us up from the train station, just a short 5 mins ride. When we arrive, the place was well decorated and the room was very clean & neat. Looks exactly like the picture. We love the room a lot! It was a comfortable stay! The owner was very thoughtful, before we even arrive, during our phone conversation, she even suggest us a few places to go if we have no plans but she didn't force us to buy the packages not like other places you stay they will push their tour package aggressively. So if you go unplanned you can actually ask her for some suggestion to go around in the city. Location was convenient, just walk straight down the road, you get supermarket, food stalls and also the well known night market. Just 3 minutes walk.
