Warm welcoming by the owner and charming design is my first impression upon entering this place. The room is spacious and super clean! The location is a little far out (which is not convenient, no convenient store and restaurant nearby), however, the breathtaking mountain & ocean view scenery makes up for it.

Beautiful seaside getaway”
I live in Taiwan, a friend and I just wanted to get away for a weekend. I'm so glad we chose this B&B. What a retreat. It was very modern, big rooms, halls and bathrooms, and definitely the cleanest place I've ever stayed in Taiwan. There's a lovely deck on the roof with an unobstructed view of the ocean, plus lawn chairs, umbrellas and tables. My Chinese is very poor, but the lady running the B&B was cheerful and didn't mind repeating things for me so I could understand. The rooms are a little expensive, but I got my money's worth in ambiance and service. I've been to Hualien several times, already roamed the night markets, seen Taroko. I wanted a hotel nice enough that I could just put my feet up and stay. That's exactly what this is. I will absolutely be back.

A real treat ”
this b&b is a real treat to stay at - views of the ocean as far as the eye can see (the sunrise is spectacular), beautiful rooms, and really warm service (plus an adorable dog). only con is that it is really far away from the hualien train station (about 30 mins drive) and there is literally nothing around the b&b save for other b&bs and one seafood restaurant. however they do provide tours in and around hualien. this is most definitely a place you come to simply relax, read a book, laze the days away and enjoy the ocean breeze. i hope to return soon!

Excellent homestay which I'll love to return to!”
The B&B was great! The place was tastefully designed and decorated with lots of natural light coming into the whole building. It was very modern and there is a 3rd floor viewing gallery to watch sunrise and the starts on a clear night. What impressed me not was the hospitality of the hosts who went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. The breakfast was homemade and fabulously nutritious and tasty! If you stay more than a day, the hosts have different breakfast menu served to you on the different days! Must try her pumpkin soup!! There were also lots of butterflies in the morning in their garden on their front porch....got some lovely photos of them! There are also two cardboard rocking horses as well as a swing for the children to play. My two young sons said that it was the best BNB that they have ever stayed in! The downside is that it is some distance from the city centre/night market. However, as we had chartered a cab to bring us about for the full trip, that wasn't a problem for us. Also, it is along the Hualien coastal drive so you could have relatively good access to the scenic nature spots along the way!

We had a great trip from If Ocean B&B to the 太魯閣. Our two night stay in the B&B was memorable. The hosts were helpful and attentive, booked taxi for us and price was reasonable. We will certainly book If Ocean B&B if we visit Hualien again.

Fantastic, comfortable and Beautiful ”
Our stay (6 of us) enjoyed our stay at If Ocean. It was such a fantastic and wonderful experience. We were so happy to be able to get the chance to stay at If Ocean, spacious rooms, beautiful scenery, very clean and new (started operation in 2012), attentive staff who served excellent simple breakfast. it has a very big roof top too equipped with tables and chairs for us to spend our valuable family time together to see the stars and Moon and to listen to the noise of insects at night. I will go back to stay there again whenever I can and I would not hesitate to recommend this B&B to anyone (which i already did.. haha!!)... Well deserved to be rated 10 out of 10!!

Very nice host and room was good”
Room was very clean, stylish, spacious with fantastic view of the Pacific Ocean. It is a bit far from Hualien city centre and may be a problem for those who don't drive, but of course if you want good views and quiet surroundings there is tradeoff. I love this B&B, but I think there ought to be more clothes hanging racks or the like in the room.

A gem by the Ocean”
our young family of three travelled together with the grandparents along the east coast of taiwan. the weather god was not on our side - but the one night stay at the 'if ocean b&b' made up for it. we instantly felt at home. breakfast was served as a set meal - but presentation was lovely. pumpkin soup is not for everybody in the morning - but the intentions were good we would love to come back - should our way go along the east coast once more.

Like a dream home”
If I win a lottery, I will buy a house like this. Like what other reviewers have shared their experiences, it is very true and I agreed with them. It was a memorable stay at If-Ocean. Although is a little out of the way, I was prepared for it as I wanted a quiet and secluded place. The sweet double room I stayed is facing the south side with an unobstructed view of the ocean and the hills. There is a large flat screen TV to waste your night away since there is nothing much u can do after dark. The hotel is about 200m from the beach, you have to cross a highway. If you are looking for a sandy beach to lay back or swim, you are in for a surprise, the nearest will be Jici, an hour drive from here. There is an hourly public bus to Hualien and is a 20mins ride. The only dinner place will be a short 500m walk to the seafood restaurant. Will definitely return again.

Friendly B&B with spacious rooms”
My time at If Ocean was relaxing and enjoyable. The hotel is down the coast from Hualien, so you're away from the city vibe entirely. The house is very new and absolutely huge. Rooms are spacious, well appointed, and there are many open areas including a large deck on the 3rd story, overlooking the ocean. The breakfast is very good - a hearty plate with soup, a breakfast sandwich, and fruit. For other meals, you can walk down to the 055 Seafood Restaurant, where they cook up fresh (as in sitting in tanks for you to choose) lobster, shrimp, crabs and more. Ms Peng was a great hostess, helping me with little things like renting a scooter and making sure I had plans for the day. Her husband, Philip, even helped me find my train ticket back to Taipei and took me along on a beach outing with their kids! They're a very warm and friendly couple. I miss the sound of the waves!

we stayed in if ocean b&b for only one night. the weather was bad after we checked in, so there is no much outdoor activities which we can carry out. but the boss's sister who was serving us provided very warm service. she even drove us to and from the seafood restaurant for our dinner.

Super Friendly Homestay, What A View!”
I recommend this hotel to all my friends who want to visit Hualien. We reached the hotel at night and all the restaurants were obviously closed. The lady of the family (sorry I've forgotten her name) cooked scrambled eggs for 6 of us and toasted bread. One of my friends is vegetarian so she let her cook whatever she wanted to from her fridge. All of it for no extra charge. Extremely friendly and accommodating. The homestay is located on a hill and has a big terrace with an ocean view. Was a pleasure waking up and seeing the sunrise. The breakfast was good and so was the room. There's a nice flower garden outside. A very calming atmosphere all around really - this is one for a chilled out hotel stay. The family has some pet birds which will happily perch on you if you want them to. Fun kids too. This one ticks all the boxes for a memorable and chilled-out hotel stay.
