I had read some bad reviews about this hotel so didn't know what to expect. It was actually pretty good. Staff were great, location handy, some nice facilities with the pool and the lovely staff seemed to always be cleaning. The free breakfast is simple with cereal, toast, pancakes, etc but it was all I needed. The noise from the bar speaker bass can be annoying if you are a light sleeper but it seemed to stop around 11pm. It was beneficial to get a room away from the bar. I wasn't there for the weekend with the live band. Also, for some reason people seemed to always be making noise in the corridors at 2 in the morning but it was over quickly. Overall my stay was great value for money.
When I originally booked, I chose a standard room. The only window faced out to a field of huge white fuel tanks, and the room was so tiny it had no chair, desk, or place to plug in the teapot, except on the sink. When I upgraded for a nominal fee, my room was easily twice as big, had 4 tables and 4 chairs, was on the beautiful gardens with a patio, and excellent A/C. Room 26. Have to walk down the hall to the common to use the internet, but not a huge deal. Breakfast is included, but after day 1, I went to the store and bought fresh French bread loaf, crunchy peanut butter, and instant coffee. Coffee in the room and at breakfast is all premixed sugar and creamer. Ick. Breakfast nothing more than white bread, creamy peanut butter, jam, muffins, and overripe fruit. Much happier with my own. Ocean is across the street, but too rocky for walking. Can walk on concrete barrier or to town easily. Taxi stand is right across the street and they can organize drives all over the island. Some good restaurants nearby, especially at Tunoa Hotel, a 5-7 min. walk.
Wonderful staff and a great location. We did have some issues with the TVs in both rooms and a leaking, rusted refrigerator, but the team was helpful and responsive. With a few maintenance updates, this would be an even better stay.
Good things: bed was comfortable, room was good size, pool ok, basic breakfast included, not too expensive for what you get in that zone. It's an ok option if you only go to sleep (but get rooms at the back), most staff nice. Bad things: expensive in relation to quality (but there's worse), room run down and not sound proof, terrible smell from shower, not cleaned, furniture falling apart attract bugs, pool needs maintenance and cleaning.

Be careful the pictures are clearly taken 10 years ago probably in its hay day. Cleanliness is subpar the floors were sticky upon check in, random pieces of hair in the bed, wouldn’t be confident the bedding has been changed before I checked in. There were random blood spots on the pillow. I upgraded our rooms to delux thinking it would be better. There were random blood spots on the pillow. Dusty and a little gross tbf. I cut my toe on the bottom of the pool due to the dilapidated state. Wear sea shoes if you do dare go in. On arrival the staff checked us in. Although not the friendly smiley reception you’d expect in an island paradise like Samoa. We also had no toiletries in the delux room and a half used toilet paper. If the Agooda had shown a true representation of this hotel at least you’d known what to expect. Considering you can pay almost the same per night for the chain of hotels on the same road next door, I wouldn’t say it’s worth the money. Clean and basic is absolutely fine. But cleanliness is a must. Do your research you’ll be happy you did!
