We loved our stay at the Lapita Village. The staff was very nice, the private bungalows are sparkling clean and the private pool is such a perk. The hotel is ideally located near the port, so you can walk there if you're arriving with the Apetahi Express. It's a 10-min drive to the airport. The hotel is ~ 10min away from the center of town, with several good restaurants, the only supermarket on the island, and there's a pharmacy 5min away. There are only 2 hotels on the island, and the Lapita has the best location. The other one is 20-25min away by car from the supermarket and pharmacy. Worth considering!
Great staff, great location ”
Firstly the rooms or bungalows are massive, and the vaulted ceilings make them seem even bigger, which is really nice. Being one of the two hotels on the island you pay a premium, but I would say the staff are so helpful and friendly it does make up for it, especially if you're nervous about what to do. They have an excellent book of activities and will call and book everything for you. The beach area is nice too, very quiet. The hotel is a very short walk into the main town of Fare, where you'll find local restaurants, supermarket, banks, and food trucks (roulettes). If you've never been to huahine I would highly recommend staying here.
Exceptional friendly service”
My husband and I stayed for six days at Hotel Maitai Lapita Village, and it was the most relaxed I have ever seen him. The rooms are in little cottages with privage plunge pools, and they are spread out enough to give quiet and privacy. (You must, as when visiting anywhere in Polynesia, be ready to hear roosters crowing at any hour, though). The staff went out of their way to get us an early check-in and a late checkout, and they were always smiling, friendly, warm, and helpful. It's really the staff which makes this hotel stand out. We loved the beachside pool. You can eat at the hotel's restaurant or walk to a number of other restaurants. It's a convenient location.
Unexpected luxury in Huahine”
Our trip to FP took us to four islands with Huahine being relatively less touristy than the others. We didn't expect to find the luxury that we found at the Maitai Lapita, and certainly not at the current rates. The bungalow on the river was absolutely huge. We've seen other reviews critical of the A/C in the room, but this was absolutely not the case. The A/C was robust and the room also had the biggest fan I've ever seen. Mosquitoes are an issue in the evening. We expected worse, but if you bring some bug spray and ask the restaurant to put out a mosquito coil when you're dining, you'll be perfectly fine. We would have been happy to spend our entire time in/around the room, but the pool area was welcoming as well. The snorkeling at their beach isn't really worth the effort if you've been to Moorea or BB. If I had to suggest one negative consideration it is that the hotel is making the pool area available to local families and parties if they order from the restaurant/bar. During these times, we understand why they're doing that since the number of hotel guests has been cut so sharply. However, it's a bit disconcerting to find that non-guests have taken over the pool in sizable numbers. During our 4 nights, there were 2 such groups and it was simple enough for us to change plans to avoid the noise (although one party went on for more than 6 hours). Be kind and understanding to the hotel (without these parties they may be forced to close), but be aware that you may encounter this.

I don’t have a single negative thing to say, staying here has been the best part of our vacation on huahine, grounds are spectacular and very well kept, we were extremely lucky and the wonderful staff upgraded our room to one of the suites with the attached private pool, it is a dream!! AC is ice cold, the hotel is located on the most beautiful beach with tons of shells to snorkel for and the pool is drop dead gorgeous. Pack mosquito repellent as they are around, location is close enough to fare to walk/bike to. Food at the restaurant is good but expensive which is to be expected. Stay here you will not regret it!!
