Within 100 meters of the mall, there are many delicious restaurants next to the hotel. I bought grilled chicken across from the hotel and it was amazing. Highly recommended.

Edge of. City centre hotel, 10 minute taxi ride from station. Not new but well maintained with friendly and helpful staff. Only downside is that the restaurant isnt (currently?) open for breakfast so you need to find it at a cafe nearby

Good budget hotel near the city center”
A little bit outside the city center but in a walking distance. The neighborhood is not very touristic, which I liked. Many restaurants and a 7/11 and Family Market. More local. The hotel and the rooms are very basic. A perfect budget hotel. The lady at the reception was VERY helpfull.

We really enjoyed the breakfast, which was very good for the price of the hotel. We had some issues finding parking as the hotel parking lot was full, but the hotel made a plan to accommodate us which we appreciated. Walking distance to many restaurants and sights.

Great Hotel, great service, perfect stay”
cullinan hotel is a very clean hotel with nice, modern rooms. the staff is very friendly. unfortunately, there is only 1 or 2 persons that can speak english, but it's ok. the breakfast buffet is ok, basically only chinese type of breakfast. for "western" kind of breakfast they have jam, chocolate spread and toast bread. the second time i had breakfast there, they brought me some fresh made pancakes with maple sirup even without ordering it, since i didn't know i could order anything. that was nice. the location is ok regarding the center of hualien and the pedestrian area, which is about 10min away walking. the train station is quite far - about half an hour walking. there is a shopping mall next door and plenty of other small shops to by drinks and food. for arrival and departure, they offer a free shuttle service to the train station and a rather cheap shuttle service from the airport (150nt$). all in all i had a great stay at cullinan in hualien and can highly recommend it.

the hotel staff were very good about answering our questions and giving recommendations for food and trips. there's free wifi in every room and in the lobby. rooms were equipped with air-con and flat-screen tvs they have 3 bikes available for people to use. (although they're a bit run-down but still ridable. we used them many times to explore hualien city.) free shuttle service to the hualien train station.

Newly renovated with large room and close to town”
we booked one night stay at first but on looking at the hotel features, we decided to extend our stay further. it is to be noted that the reception was operated by young well-dress people, are extremely polite and always smiling and helpful. they even provided a welcome gift to hotel guests on arrival. the hotel staff offered car transport to send us to the night-market and to the main train station which is about 20 mins walking distance away when we checked out. the hotel is situated close to the town centre where there are much night shopping and many eating places at pretty low prices. the hotel is also able to arrange tours by bus or taxi-cab to taroko gorge. all in all and considering the price, it was a great place to stay both for leisure and business. will certainly recommend this hotel to anyone and will stay at this hotel if we visit hualien again

Cheap & Good”
It was just a short 1 night at Cullinan Hotel. We came to Hualien to see the Taroko Gorge and the Chi Xin Tan (Seven Star Beach) so all we needed was a decent hotel to spend the night. The price was affordable for a family suite for 4 (includes two queen-sized beds). The staff at the reception was also very friendly and helpful. They were able to help us get a larger cab on time. They were also all smiles. The service is pretty good.

The room was alright, quite comfortable. The breakfast is ok. It is not located near the train station, will need to take cab to reach the hotel. There are quite a number of eating places nearby. When I check-in, without having to ask, the staff gave me a food guide brochure of Hualien, a map that indicates the eating places near the hotel and also 2 small booklets about the attractions in Hualien. In the morning when I was waiting at the lobby for a driver to pick us up to go Taroko Gorge, a staff saw a vehicle stop in front of the hotel. Instead of waiting for the driver to walk into the hotel to look for me, the staff actually went out to find out if the vehicle was coming for me. Overall, the service from the staff was excellent. They are proactive, friendly and attentive towards their guests.

Great Hotel with Friendly Staff”
The level of staff service was the highest during our stay in Taiwan. The environment was cordial and the hotel staff members were friendly, helpful and took initiative to collect train tickets for us when we requested them to book the tickets. Even though the hotel was just 15 minutes drive from the train station,it is not very accessible. However, this was compensated by the free shuttle service provided by the staff. The manager fetch us from the train station when we arrived to Hualien and the assistant manager sent us to the train station when we check out. This was definitely one of the best experience we had in Taiwan so far.

nice hotel, in a somewhat nondescript area of town”
Although one can walk to the hotel from the train station, it is a long way. Once there, the hotel has a shuttle to drive you to the station, so it is fine. since I had arrived early, and my room was not ready, I asked the reception what there was to do next to the hotel, and I drew a blank stare; indeed, there is nothing around the hotel. So this is a good place to sleep, but not really central to anything in Hualien. Breakfast was very ordinary. Price was right, and the staff very nice, so good value overall.

one of the lowest priced hotels in hualien but certainly not the worst. the rooms were much larger than expected and very clean. the free breakfast was a mixture of asian and western so there was a little for everyone. cab to main train station was about ntd. the staff spoke english and were eager to help with anything.
