I had a conference down the road at Warwick and stayed twin share with a colleague to save some cash. It was easy to get to and from airport and town. I quickly got use to the "bus" system. Going rate was 150-200VT. There are local kava huts next door (red bucket lights). 1nomakas bakery 30min walk up the hill has cheap beef and egg rolls 150VT. People in Vanuatu are extremely friendly. I hired a bus for the day with some friends for 7000VT and went to blue lagoon and Tanna Coffee. Driver's name is Mr William phone 7779505. I also went diving with Big blue and tranquility dives. I would come here again but go to the other islands Tanner or Santo. The motel is ok. You get what you pay for. I feel for the nice owners who are quiet and are doing their best post cyclone. More could be done but at the rates they are asking I don't blame them. Perfect for backpakers and all the other guests were lovely.

People in Vanuatu are so friendly but it was hard to get stout booked they don't like to force sell things to you. They come across very shy but we found that the market was very good for fresh fruits and local meals. When the cruise ships roll into town you can feel the buzz in the people. Our room was good for the price they didn't realize we booked a fan room and put us into an aircon room. Internet is good. Staff are very quiet and not really helpful but it was good and we extended out stay.

The food cooked by chef John ,met all our needs , very tasty , well presented. manager Janelle, if Vanuatu was a product ,this lady knows it, sells it so well, but with her local knowledge and bubbly personality as clients, patrons at travellers we are true winners. Ask me would I go there again for sure I will as soon as I can I will. Jack and Janelle their Staff al so friendly, so helpful so value for money

My girlfriend and I booked this place last minute (the day of) and got a room with shared facilities for $75 through Agoda. So cheap! 😮 Staying here is cheaper than visiting for the day. STAY HERE! They throw in FREE snorkeling, scuba diving tours, glass floor boat tours, and other stuff. The sunset ☀️ and sunrise 🌅 is utterly breathtaking and it is so quiet. Only downfall is that it very touristy. So if you’re not wanting to have a tourist based experience while visiting Vanuatu 🇻🇺 stay here only one night. Experience this beautiful resort and then head to the north end of Efate Island for true island life. But all in all, Hideaway Island 🌴 was awesome and highly recommended.

The girl at the check in was really nice, but also kept really close because I had to pay in cash and I still had to go to the atm to get it and she came with me. Either because she was nice or because she wanted to make sure I get the cash. I paid the same evening but in the supermarket since she left. The hotel is huge but there were only 2 guests. I booked a dorm but she explained to me that there are no more dorm rooms, just single rooms, which was ok. BUT: sh have me the room with a light in front of the door that just blinked on and off, kinda scary with these long empty hallways, the “bathroom” was just 2 sinks at the end of the hallway and 2 toilets each for men and women also the lights go off after 20 sec.. The room was directly over a bar and by 1 am I couldn’t sleep anymore because of the loud music. I did get another room on the top floor so tha was ok but done through the guy from the supermarket. The restaurant is closed and the whole facilities need a make over badly.

A compact hotel, with a range of budget rooms set around a lovely tropical garden and pool. The simple continental breakfast in the pretty outdoor, thatched dining shelter is a lovely, relaxed way to start the day - fruit, biscuits, weetbix, toast + jam, milo, juice, tea and coffee, is included in the price. The rooms are neat and tidy with access to limited wifi, but do not have a tv, fridge or kettle. Would suit the budget traveller or backpacker who is out and about during the day, and wants to come back to a clean bed and warm shower.

After "roughing it" for a few nights at the base of Mt Yasur, staying at Alofa was like being in the lap of luxury with electricity and hot water! :-) You can see the beautiful white sand beach from the bungalow (good swimming area just a short walk down the beach) and the gardens around the grounds are beautifully maintained. Sam and Sabrina and their team took very good care of us in arranging tours, airport transfers, delicious meals and even sharing a few shells of kava! I would definitely recommend Alofa Beach Bungalows to anyone looking for a comfortable budget place to stay on Tanna. It is currently a cash only establishment and there are currently no ATMs on the island so make sure you take enough cash. If you're really strapped for cash, you can swipe your card at Whitegrass Ocean Resort where they'll charge a fee of 10% for the service.

Our entire trip to Vanuatu was made all the better thanks to Pasi Lodge. This was the last leg of our 3-month South Pacific tour, and it was easily the best spot in all our travels. Having your own apartment is awesome no matter where you are, but with an outdoor patio, two comfy beds, a cooking area, and living room, it was like having your own place in Vanuatu. Plus, the free Wi-Fi actually worked....an unprecedented bonus in the South Pacific. Joselyn was also a wonderful host and fixed up our room frequently. For the money and the amenities, it doesn't get any better than Pasi Lodge.

Great place, good facilities, very comfortable with a good view, but that comes with it being a fairly steep walk up hill from the main part of town. Food is excellent, though not cheap, but that's common in Vanuatu. The staff are really good - helpful, friendly and as I was leaving on a late afternoon flight I didn't need to check out until just before heading to the airport.

Le Life Resort has a fantastic view from the restaurant area and each of the bungalows, with the ocean immediately in front of it just steps away. It has the best natural ocean swimming pool I've ever seen - large, sandy bottom, close to shore, easy to access, reasonable depth (up to armpits), warm water, gentle / calm waves (whilst loud, big waves crash 50 metres in front of you). I'd read mixed reviews of the restaurant but it was excellent - maybe this was because it was peak season and they had plenty of staff and ingredients, or maybe its always like this, but really the food was very good, offered a great range and was reasonably priced. The major negative for us was the wifi doesn't work at all, despite what they tell you. It's only one hour away from Port Vila by car (expect to pay 7,000 Vatu for a taxi one way) and is very affordable lodgings and food (especially compared to Port Vila), so I would highly recommend travelling to Le Life and staying 2 or 3 nights.

I was so happy with my choice because I was looking for somewhere I could relax on the beach and feel at home as opposed to a big hotel! The natural setting of these bungalows offered peace & quiet, access to local sites, convenient transport, an opportunity to experience Vanuatu as if I lived there! I will definitely be back with my family and friends! I found the bungalows to be quite spacious and open! I loved getting amongst the locals and experiencing their way of life and I found this stay to be very affordable. The staff caught fish at the beach in the front yard for my dinner ...so natural! The owners are amazing I felt like part of their family! If you want to chill out and feel the vibe of Vanuatu I recommend Tara beach bungalows 😊

You will have your own private reef with an abundance of fish. Esline started feeding them a couple years ago and has even planted some coral gardens and the diversity and number of fish we saw was incredible and it's literally on your doorstep. She provides yummy breakfast, snorkling gear and a nice little secluded part of Santo. Lee the groundskeeper is great, very approachable and helpful and always smiling. There is a ship wreck there and the possible sighting of a dugong or two. The rooms are lovely and Esline is great company. She took us for a tour to Riri and Nanda Blue Lagoons and up to Champagne Beach and Port Orly and knows so much about the island and its history. She is so friendly and accommodating. The 6 days we spent at her place were so relaxing and enjoyable. I highly recommend!

We absolutely loved Tranquility! Staff were amazingly considerate, thoughtful, polite and welcoming. Douglas cooks incredible meals every day and Joe and Sun are the loveliest managers we've ever had the pleasure to stay with. The island is a stunning, isolated paradise where you can be the only ones on the beach or only divers underwater. Marine life is abundant - so many fish! We saw a turtle while kayaking and dolphins might pay you a visit if you're on the boat too! We stayed in a beach fare which was basic but comfortable. There's generator power for a few hours a day. Be prepared to 'rough it' a little. If you are scared of creepy crawlies or you are looking for luxury - this may not be for you. But for those with an adventurous side and looking to get back to nature with likeminded travellers, this would be perfect. These guys are doing great things at the resort and for the local people and endangered hawksbill turtles. If we didn't have to work, we would have never left.

We loved our stay there! It’s in a good location on the island and the resort it really pretty. You can see the ocean from your bedroom window and hear the sound of waves at night. Food was great and staff were really friendly. I would recommend hiring a car for your stay though as there’s nothing around the resort and you will need it to get to other attractions on the island. Great location if you want to be close to the blue holes.

The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, I honestly don't have enough words for how welcomed we felt. The owners were very welcoming and would always stop to say hi and have a chat, your customer service is just brilliant! We had a delay with our flight and arrived a lot later than expected, we were greeted by security who showed us to our room which was fantastic as we were very tired and ready for bed. We really enjoyed Peters tour through Mele village and highly recommend it (thank you Peter). The food was very nice (my fiancé loved the kick ass curry), the room was very comfortable and located superbly close to the beach with amazing rockpools at low tide. The location is out of town but there were always buses in the area (Sunday is a bit quieter in the morning) and reception was always happy to call one if required. Even though it's out of town there are a number of activities in the area but it's also great if you want to just sit and chill.

Perfect waterfront location, with lovely outdoor dining area, bar and swimming pool to relax , unwind and enjoy the view. The continental breakfast of tropical fruit, cereal, toast + spreads, cakes and pancakes, is included in the price, and is a lovely way to start the day. The hotel rooms are neat, clean and compact, and are ideal for those who are out and about during the day, and want a relaxed, friendly place to stay, just a short walk along the waterfront to town. Prices of accommodation in Vanuatu are generally quite expensive, and the room prices fluctuate a lot from week to week, so it pays to shop around for a reasonable deal.

Felt at home straight away, topped off our trip. Quiet, a bit out of town. Great for us. Spent last 3 nights of our 2 week trip here. Lovely upper room over looking lagoon. Great to come out in the morning and sit on the balcony. All food in Vanuatu is expensive, but so often sub standard, not here, wonderful every time. Good abundant breakfast of fruits, croissants, toast rounds, butter and jams ,plus coffee or tea. Lunch and dinner menu is varied and all beautifully prepared and tasty. My family and I (Partner and 2 kids aged 9 and 12) recently stayed at the Vanuatu Beachfront apartments. We stayed in the Ocean View Apartment (2 br) which were very clean and had all the amenities we needed. The beach is just a short walk (not 50m to water) and it was nice to hear the water lapping on the sand at night times. The kids had a ball using the pool, and kayaking in the ocean, as well as giving the volleyball court a go. Just a short stroll to the Beach Bar and the pier to Hideaway Island, we couldn't have asked for a better location. We had an excellent, relaxing holiday! Thankyou Damien and co!!

The restaurant was very nice and affordable for food and drinks, staff were accomodating. Gaetan was very impressive with customer service skills and friendly demeanour, took the time and effort to remember us by name and always smiled and was friendly and approachable. The air conditioning was a wonderful plus in the hot humidity and rooms were always cleaned to a high standard. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to future travellers!

The resort and the grounds were immaculately presented. Our bungalow was very clean and comfortable and having the private pool and balcony was perfect. All the staff were very professional, helpful and friendly. We would like to say Thank You to the staff that we had the pleasure to meet and get to know over our time, Thomas, Karl, Irene and the front desk staff. The food was amazing and definitely recommend this resort, we checked out a lot of places during our visit and the food here was stellar, five star quality, freshness and just amazing... We hope to visit again next year!!!!
