Traveling to Laos? Find Luang Prabang hotels

I celebrated my birthday in Luang Prabang last April and the staff prepared a small surprise for me. I fell in love with Luang Prabang and the hospitality of the Lao people. I am a frequent solo traveler and my experience has been enhanced by the kindness and hospitality of the My Dream staff. The rooms and facilities are to die for. The room is well-maintained and kept clean by the staff. The room I got had a balcony where you can relax and have a good view of the pool. The bed is always kept clean and the sheets are regularly replaced. I had a problem with one of the tours that I booked through the hotel and the staff kindly reimbursed my payment - which I very much appreciated. As a solo traveler, one of my biggest concerns is that some tour operators wouldn't pay attention to my concern since I am alone and there is no incentive for them to comply or assist me. My experience with My Dream is very different, since they fixed the problem and reimbursed some of the payment I made. Another plus is their regular service to and from the town proper. They will drop you off near the post office and pick you up at selected hours of the day. They also have bicycles that they lend to people who want to tour Luang Prabang on their own. I strongly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Luang Prabang.

Our stay at the Villa Maly helped create a wonderful overall experience in Luang Prabang. From the time we arrived, we knew we would have an enjoyable stay what with the friendly staff, cold towels, refreshing drinks and daintily presented nuts. We ate several times in the hotel not just for the convenience but because we really liked the food and ambience. Our rooms were comfortable. The bathroom amenities were fragrant and came in impressive looking bottles. The pool was refreshing especially after walks to and from downtown Luang Prabang, which was 15 minutes away. The goodbye gifts came as a surprise!

We stayed for four nights at the Pullman and had a fantastic time. The staff were super friendly and helpful. They really go the extra mile for their guests! The room was spotless! The restaurant at the resort was very good and extremely reasonable. The general manager, Denis, was terrific. He always took time out of his busy schedule to say hello and to make sure everything was going well. The hotel is located a bit out of town so you can relax away from the hubbub of the town centre. There is a shuttle bus that will take you to town and pick you up to bring you back to the hotel. We can’t wait to stay with them again on our next visit to Luang Prabang.

We recently stayed at the Kiridara Hotel in Luang Prabang and had a fabulous time in this boutique hotel. The hotel is set on a hill with lovely views towards the town and of the mountains. We were greeted with efficient, smiling and friendly staff for our whole 3 days (who enjoyed our attempts at speaking a Thai version of the Laos language.) An extra bed and towels were ready for our 12 year old in our room when we arrived and our king bed bed I have to say was divine and the most comfortable I've slept in after living in Thailand for 3 years. The feather down pillows were also luxurious and I have just bought identical ones now we are home. We enjoyed our meals with a good mix of western and Asian food. I particularly enjoyed the breakfast ( included in price) with a great selection of al la carte eggs bought to the table unlike lining up in other major hotels. The hotel itself is out of the town about a 5-10 minute free shuttle bus ride which caused no problem. In a vague attempt to burn off a few holiday calories my husband tried the treadmill in the gym but it was a little slow, so we headed for happy hour at the pool deck instead.The hotel had a lovely ambiance, infinity pool and ever pleasant staff. The staff organised a trip along the Mekong River for us at short notice and opened up the breakfast room a little earlier for us as we had an early departure flight on our last day. The manager Francis was often present making sure all the guests were well taken care of. I highly recommend the Kiridara Hotel at Luang Prabang and will certainly return.

The location of this hotel is lovely, set on a hill just outside the town with amazing views of the town and surrounding mountains. The hotel is quite new so our room was very comfortable and in good condition. The staff were all fantastic, particularly the general manger, and they went out of their way to ensure we had a great stay. Despite the level of English varying between staff, all our requests were dealt with very promptly (perhaps because the hotel didn't seem particularly full while we were there) and they were very happy to assist with restaurant reservations, arranging tuk tuks for day trips etc. We didn't use the infinity pool as it was a little cold (and there is so much else to do and see in Luang Prabang so we didn't spend a lot of time at the hotel) but it looked lovely. The gym was small but well equipped, and wi-fi was provided free in the rooms. The free shuttle bus to town was very handy given the hotel is a little out of the way, however the last shuttle bus returning to the hotel leaves at 9.15pm, which made it a bit rushed when eating dinner in town - a bus leaving at 10pm would have been ideal although it was easy enough to get a tuk tuk back to the hotel. The food at the hotel was decent, although not as good as equivalent hotels in other countries, and food and drinks were very expensive (same price you would pay at 5 star hotels elsewhere in the world, but when compared with top restaurants in the town it seemed a bit overpriced for Laos). As there are a lot of fantastic restaurants to choose from in Luang Prabang we didn't end up eating at the hotel other than breakfast. All in all we had a great stay - Luang Prabang is a fantastic place and we would definitely choose to stay at the Shinta Mani again if we return to Luang Prabang.

We decided to travel to Luang Prabang from South Africa for our annual holiday and stayed at this hotel for 7 nights. Everything was amazing from the extremely friendly staff to the clean and comfortable rooms to the great breakfast (make sure you include this in your package as it is worth it). The hotel has a lovely pool (which very few hotels in Luang Prabang has) and the property has bikes that are free to use for guests. We had an issue at the beginning out our stay with the neighbours being noisy but the hotel immediately sorted it out when I spoke to them. Great customer service. They are also helpful to help in finding places to visit and to arrange transport. Great hotel! Thank you for a lovely holiday!

We got an exclusive deal from this Luang Prabang Legend Hotel via Agoda, so we were indeed happy and felt that we have had the most valuable deal for this stay. Good aspects about this place: New hotel, nice design, short walk to the main tourist street, good staff and management, all friendly and welcoming atmosphere, serve variety of breakfast with good taste. We definitely RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL for any travelers who are looking for hotel in Luang Prabang. You will sure be satisfied.

We arrived here at 11:30pm after a long bus journey, and were immediately made to feel welcome, with welcome drinks and tips on where to get dinner at that hour. The grounds were truly amazing - it was like an enchanted garden. The room was perfect. Breakfast was good every morning (the home made jam is addictive!). No complaints at all. We stayed several days and thought we'd try somewhere else. After one night we returned here and stayed for the rest of our time in Luang Prabang. William the manager, and all the staff, are more than helpful and nothing is too much trouble. It truly was service with a smile! The free bikes are fantastic to cycle around town. The hotel is a little further out from town than others, possibly a 10-15 min walk, but this is no real issue and ensures you don't get woken up by the monks drumming early in the morning! We loved Maison Dalabua and can't recommend it enough - it was our home in Luang Prabang!

We were very happy to have chosen Satri House over other nice hotels in Luang Prabang. Our room is very spacious and beautifully decorated. And it was spotlessly clean. The bed is very comfortable. Every member of the staff is friendly and willing to do whatever they can to make guests happy. The manager is particularly helpful. The architecture and the ambience make one feel at home the minute one steps inside the hotel compound. The location is not In the center of shopping and restaurants but not to far to go on foot to night market and Mekong River. The breakfast is good, with a good selection of Lao and Western sets. Unfortunately, we did not have time to try it’s spa and massage services.

This property is absolutely beautiful and the location is excellent. Walking distance to pretty much everything you need to see in Luang Prabang. The Deluxe rooms are well-designed but small. We stayed in one overlooking the pool, and it has a lovely balcony to enjoy coffee and the view. Bathroom shower makes loud noises (on and off) but not an issue if it doesnt bother you. The staff are friendly and the service is good for Luang Prabang (better than my expectations). English communication is challenging for the staff but they respond with a smile and still make an effort to try. We had a water leaking issue in our room but the GM went above and beyond to ensure our overall experience was comfortable and memorable. The service and thoughtfulness shown by the hotel staff made a superb and excellent impression on us. Having stayed in many 5* hotels, I highly rate this property and recommend it to anyone looking for a luxury experience.

We highly recommend this hotel. Friendly service, nothing too much trouble, good management, great recommendations for Luang Prabang, the rooms are spotless clean and well designed for a relaxing stay. The hotel has a warm ambiance and lovely cafe area where we enjoyed reading papers and their selection of books. The location of the hotel is great to walk to the 6.30am alms walk by the monks, and for walking back from restaurants at night. The terrace has wonderful views of the mighty Mekong. Bycycles were provided at no charge, the breakfast options were plentiful (one of us loved the generous and delicious vegetable and noodle soup and the other devoured the eggs and western breakfast... all with Lao Coffee). Hotels in Luang Prabang are "pricey" - so relative to the other options this was a good find. Highly recommended.

From our welcome to our departure this was a home from home. All the staff were smiley and took time to talk to us at every opportunity, guiding us over transport and local sights. The food was excellent and well presented using many if the products grown on site. The home made yoghurt with honey and local fruits was a particular hit at breakfast. Although for lunch or dinner it is the same menu with a limited selection we found the choice and quality more than enough for the two meals we had during our three day stay. We highly recommend this hotel for a holiday in Luang Prabang.

This hotel was a place I first stayed at in 1997, when it was one of only a few hotels in town. They have consistently upgraded to stay in the top rank of hotels in Luang Prabang. Everything from check in to check out was handled very efficiently, the room was spacious and comfortable, clean and quiet.Their location is one of the best in town, close to all the major attractions, and many nice restaurants very nearby.

Awesome! I feel in love with Indigo House. It's a bit pricey for hotel in the areas. I was reluctant to book from the many different reviews from the many different website, but decided to book at the last minute while in Luang Prabang because other hotels I want are booked. It was my destined and I book for one night until the other hotel would have room available. One night at Indigo had me change my mind to book for the rest of my stay in Luang Prabang. I have stayed at other hotels, but it did not compete to the Indigo House. Great customer service, their restaurant downstairs is busy, very close to restaurant, places to see and the hotel is located right on the night market street, I could look down from my balcony. The morning market is right behind the building in the back alley way. I will definitely book at the Indigo House and no where else if I go back to Luang Prabang and highly recommended it for any traveling there.

My stay at The Grand Hotel in Luang Prabang was an incredible experience. Upon arrival our reservation was not on file and we were immediately upgraded for 2 of our 5 nights to their Executive Mekong Suite for the inconvenience. Rooms were clean and spacious, and I would recommend getting a river view. The Pool was immaculate and the surrounding grounds were beautifully manicured. The location of the Grand is off the beaten path, so if its privacy you're looking for look no further. But if you do enjoy spending time on the main strip be aware that you are going to have to do a lot of travelling. The hotel offers 6 free time designated shuttles, 2 in the morning, afternoon, and evening. All other times require you to pay $2 US per person. The only true con I have was the breakfast. Of all the hotels we stayed at during our SE Asia trip, this one offered the least selection.

Le Sen isn't just a place for you to sleep at night. It's more of a sanctuary for when you need a break from your day trips, all that walking around town, and a temporary home at the end of every day. It's not exactly close to the main parts of town, which is actually a good thing. It's still walkable from downtown Luang Prabang, or you can get someone to call the front desk, and they'll send their shuttle over to pick you up--for free. They have friendly, attentive staff 24 hours a day. We had a room by the pool, and it was just perfect. It's got the charm of an old residence but all the modern amenities. Even the curtains had a reflective lining, which keeps light out and the temperature in the room cooler. The king-sized bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was perfect except for the detachable shower head: the hose was very stiff, which means when you turn on the water, the shower head will start dancing and having a life of its own. The holster for the shower head is lose, so you can't lock the shower head in position. Not a big deal. Hot water was fine. The pool is small but it's more for lounging in and dipping your feet on a hot day. Their breakfast spread is pretty big for a small hotel. Our favorite was the egg station. The staff always cooked the eggs perfectly, and they also serve a delicious noodle soup. Their breakfast was better than some of the food we had around town. One of the mornings, we had to leave at 5:30am for a photography tour, so they packed us a bag of bananas and croissants. Housekeeping even folded the clothes that we had hanging outside to dry and placed them neatly on our bed. At night, the proper conserves electricity with its motion-sensor lights that light up the walking bath to and from your room. Le Sen isn't cheap by Lao standards, but everything in Luang Prabang seems to be touristy and expensive, unless you go local all the way or leave its main center. However, we still feel Le Sen is worth the money. An absolute gem.

The New Daraphet Hotel in Luang Prabang is ideally located near the night market and just a short stroll to the river. The rooms are comfortable and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly with quite good english. The restaurant was open for breakfast (included in the tariff) and then again later in the day to serve evening meals till quite late. A cheap and pleasant place to stay.

I stayed for two nights during Pi Mai (Lao New Year) after moving out of a hostel on the Main Street. I can honestly say this was the best position for the festival. It was still on the peninsula so I felt fully involved with the celebrations but far away enough so that I could sit on my balcony and enjoy the views and read a book. The rooms are exceptionally beautiful and so was the breakfast. Everyone who stays in Luang Prabang, even if they don't stay at the hotel, should go to the riverview cafe and enjoy the morning views, tranquility and breakfast. It is expensive, as are the other hotels on the tip of the peninsula but in my view worth it.

One of the best small hotels we have stayed at We had a chalet looking over the river ...wonderful and waking up in the morning lovely misty atmosphere from the river The room could be seen as on the small side but lovely balcony compensated and we spent a lot of time on this with chairs or cushions both provided The pool was a plus not many hotels in luang prabang have one and we spent most afternoons in the pool good size and clean The room were very clean and the only drawback was lack of wardrobe but he had a rails provided which we found okay The distance from town we knew about and the 4 shuttles a day were available and helped us get organised You could walk took about 20mins The dining room was okay with good breakfasts and convenient for other meals if needed

The Hotel Luang Prabang is a splendid refuge in Luang Prabang. The rooms are spacious (belying its origins as a colonial prison), beautifully designed, and immaculately kept. Some rooms offer less light than others; however, the heat is a good reason to err on the side of 'dark'. As I was staying for 9 nights and planned to work for much of my visit, I was upgraded to one of the Heritage rooms that provided the right balance of windows and shade for my taste. I enjoyed the quality amenities; however, the most amazing feature of the rooms here are the beds, quite simply the most comfortable I've ever had. The kitchen is simply superlative and the staff knowledgable and accommodating to my vegetarian diet. While Luang Prabang has an abundance of restaurants, many of which are good, I kept returning to the Hotel as nothing else came close to its offerings. A lovely pool with ample interesting places to sit, both outside and inside, and spa round out the features of this property. The property, however lovely, would mean nothing without the warm, professional service offered by the young staff. I can't wait to return!

Luang Prabang is a wonderful town with fabulous temples and wonderful french colonial architecture. The hotel is very close to the center of the town where you will find the Museum and Night market. Better restaurants are a little ways away (about 15 minutes walk and further). The hotel also gives close access 25 m to an Arts center. Highly recommended town and the hotel is a good base to explore it.

i've stayed in most of the higher end hotels in luang prabang, and this is by far my favourite. the service is the best i've experienced anywhere in luang prabang - the staff are very friendly and welcoming, nothing is a bother and eduard is particularly exceptional. the food is great too - the eggs benedict for breakfast are divine, and i became addicted to the risottos at dinner! it's more expensive than other restaurants in town, but well worth it. the rooms are very spacious and beautifully finished, and the beds and pillows are super comfortable. the location is a short distance from town but still very convenient - it's an easy 10 minute bicycle ride, or you can take a tuk-tuk. i highly recommend luang say residence.

This hotel is just a little off the beaten path, a ten minute walk to the center of Luang Prabang. It is relaxing to be away from all the hustle and bustle in the city and yet be close enough to take a stroll to the main street at any time. The staff at the hotel is super friendly (as are most people in Luang Prabang). They are a bit shy, but try their best at English. The American breakfast was always very fresh and tasty. The room was vey clean, had a beautiful atmosphere , soft sheets and a great bathroom. This hotel is on the pricey side for Laos, but it was worth every penny. I would definitely stay here again.

Stayed in 3 hotels (other 2 were four star hotels) in Luang Prabang and this is the best of them all in my opinion. Not only it is cheap, but the rooms are HUGE and very clean as well. The staffs are very friendly and polite and the breakfast is pretty tasty honestly. Location is also good and close to the old quarters and night market. I would stay here again if I visit the town again. Keep up the great work!

This is one of the hotel where picture form the website does not lie. There are many hotels where picture from the web looks so much better than the room but in this hotel, it is not the case. In fact, the actual look of the room and overall feel is better than the picture seen on the website. The room is not large but not too small either. Despite not being large, it is very cosy and great detailed and attention is paid to the furnishing of the room. Actually, the small size of the room make it even more cosy. The bathroom is also very well designed. The hotel lobby also very stylishly designed in colonial style with a billiard table for a game of pool. I had dinner and breakfast at the restaurant because the restaurant has such a great location overlooking the Nam Khan river. For those who prefer a indoor environment, you could also dine at the very stylish hotel lobby. The superb rooms and restaurant of the hotel is complimented by the generosity of the staff. I was upgraded to a deluxe room( i booked a superior room) with river view when i asked for a room on the second floor as all the superior rooms are located on the first floor. I highly recommend this hotel even though there are many good hotel in Luang Prabang. I am highly satisfied with what i get for the price i paid for and will not hesitate to return when i visit Luang Prabang again. One note of caution though: The bed rooms are bath rooms are joined no door for the bathroom, so there may be some privacy problem for some travelers. This hotel i my opinion is designed towards couples.
