Koh Rong hotels & places to stay

We had a lot of fun staying on Koh Rong, and did enjoy our Stay at Malibu Hostel. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Pros - Nice spot on the beach to relax and Swim. There are loungers and hammocks to relax in. Cons - This place is pretty pricey considering it doesn't even come with a bottle of water. Literally every place we have stayed since arriving more than a month ago provides this, for doing your teeth etc. Also, the food is quite pricey for what you get, we found better value elsewhere. Also, the beach is very dirty, having come from Samloem we were surprised they don't do a litter pick. This place is properly noisy, through out the night. No matter where your bungalow is situated. The bar is party party until dawn. Bring ear plugs. The bungalows are very open compared with other bungalows and therefore the most Mosquitos we've encountered. The mozzie net provided didn't help, you need deet all day and all night. I was eaten alive!

Lonely Beach is a gem. It's rustic for sure, but feels like a paradise. As long as you are prepared for bucket showers, no running water, no wifi, and hot, muggy nights in the bungalow—you'll love it. A pristine beach, beautiful water for swimming (great for kids), snorkeling, a funky beach bar, and total relaxation. It gets very hot at midday—so we lounged and read books in the main lodge area—or used one of several comfortable hammocks by the ocean for a nap. The evenings were perfect though, and we were lucky to swim nightly in the magical phosphorescence. We were there slightly off-season and had the place much to ourselves for four days. The owners are delightful. Not much to do here but eat, drink, sleep, read, and swim—though the hot, forty-five minute hike to the village of Preak Sveay is well worth it—and there's a yoga room. My well-traveled seven-year-old daughter's favorite lodging to date!

Fun hotel with good restaurant. We stayed in an AC room after a night in a noisy and warm bamboo bungalow. The room was very basic but much cooler than where we were before. The bathroom was not the cleanest and there was no hot water. Although advertised as wifi in the room, it didn't seem to stretch that far. However, the restaurant was excellent and good value for money. We ate there several times. The location is in the centre of the strip and is perfectly located for the terminal ferry for speed ferries back to the mainland as well as boat trips. It is close to all the other bars and feels like the "place to be" in koh rong.

Yes, you don't have wifi here, neither hot shower or even running water. Don't go there to get a comfy and all inclusive night, it's all about the spirit of the place. The staff is WONDERFUL, they are really helpful, they will make you visit the village on demand and explain how Sarah (the owner) and her volunteers managed A LOT of stuff to help them. The location is far from the main pier, but the way to go is amazing and will make you get through amazing places in Koh Rong. But it's a rough walk (2-3 hours of sand&jungle walk). The place is 15 minutes away from the most beautiful Beach of the World 😍 The food is amazing and the plates are huge ! And if you want to change a bit, they will lead you to some nice local & cheap restaurants. Ask for the famous ice coffee of the place 😋 I loved the time I spent here, I loved the staff, I loved everything !

Best of the best. Robbie-the owner and his family was incredibly helpful in every aspects. After booking Robbie sent me an email with details about how to get there & some notes along with his contact information. Make sure you call him ahead to arrange transportation upon your arrival at the main pier in Koh Rong. The taxi boat driver will be there waiting with your name on a board. It cost 5$/person and about 40minutes trip to get to Coconut Beach, which is extremely peaceful, far far away from those beach bars. Robbie showed up when we arrive and helped us with all the luggage up to the room while we was enjoying swimming, coconut juice & massage by the beach. The food is great & drinks are cheap, unlike other islands. The fun starts as the night begin, we had camfire, food & drinks all together. We even brought some fireworks from Sihanoukville and had lots of fun playing it (its now prohibited to play with fireworks in Sihanoukville). The best part of the night is when Robbie turned off all the lights and took you out for a night swim, its time to see those sparkling plankton, believe me its some kind of experience that you wont ever forget. In general, me and all my friends has agreed to give the best compliments to Robbie and his family, they have done a great job & above all a wonderful hospitality service. I will come back, definitely!

Location is absolutely great! 1 hour walk from the main pier by the beach, or about $5 boat. There's barely no one on this side of the island and the beaches are really beautiful. And the food from the bar is the best I tried in Cambodia! Went there for the 10 days I stayed on the island and everything is good proportion, fresh and really tasty! You got to try the deep fried banana they're so yummy. One of the best stay I ever had in South East Asia!!!

First, we sent email & message on Facebook to the resort for further info and they replied just within a day. Then, we had some troubles as catching the wrong speedboat which may cost us 5$ more per head for a small boat taking us to the resort. However, after a quick call to the resort, they happily agreed to pay for us. The resort welcomed us with exciting music & quick check-in service so we could immediately enjoy the beauty of the beach there. Very private and beautiful sea shore. The only negative point was about the electricity which will be off around 2am to 6am. However, as I may know, this is the common situation of most resorts in Koh Rong island & Koh Rong Sanloem. Anw, the good service at this resort made me wanna come back to this heavenly island in the near future, despite the very long time sitting on bus & boat.

We had a fantastic stay at the Highland Beach Bungalow. It's only about a 5-minute walk away from the beachfront; therefore, you can be part of the chaos when you want, but it also offers the opportunity to retreat to a more peaceful setting. The walk is a bit uphill to the bungalows, so the view is incredible. I believe it is the best place to stay in Koh Rong. And perhaps the cleanest.

Good sized double bedded jungle bungalows with mosquito nets, basic but with a nice sized terrace. The property is huge, with its own private beach and large restaurant bar area, and only a 15 minute walk from the main pier in Koh Rong. The prices were a little higher than the bungalows we've experienced in Otres for example, even higher during high season, which would have been a deal breaker for us budget travellers. Lucky we came during the low season, but due to it being low season, there was construction work everywhere (they were building concrete roads and new bungalows) which meant debris and noise during the day. We were woken up by the sound of concrete padders around 8:30am. Also during the rainy season, the bungalows tend to be extremely humid, with nothing drying overnight - not even bikinis! Bugs are a given they're in the jungle, but my friend had bed bugs on his bed. We were lucky with ours. The staff are cool, they're lovely and helpful, great place to rest for a few days (and to party as you're quite central to the action), as long as you're wiling to fork out a few extra dollars. I'm sure this place would be even more wonderful once the works are completed and in the dry season!

We were extremely lucky to have gotten a room here as the whole island has been fully booked due to Chinese New Year. The owner (unsure of his name) extended our stay at a very reasonable price! The place itself was spacious and clean. The bed in Super Kingsize and the so comfortable in comparison to the 2 other places we stayed previously on the island. The absolutes best things was that there was air-con and it was amazing! From all my searching through Agoda for hotels, this is extremely rare to find in Koh Rong. The place offers various excursions and provides a laundry service (although, we didn’t use either as we were only there for two nights due to being fully booked). The one thing I would note is that the hotel is made of wood, so you can literally hear everything going on outside BUT the island is really quiet after 11pm, so we found it wasn’t an issue. Overall it was an excellent stay; there was great air-con, good wifi, brilliant location and lovely staff! Would definitely book again.

Koh Rong is a nice island, but it's not paradise. Our room was at Sok San Beach, from the main pier you have to take a slow boat. The boat trip takes about 45 minutes and will cost $20 - $30 per boat. So try to share with other people! At Sok San there was one reception for different bungalows/resorts. We actually had a room, not a bungalow. The beach is nice, but this small village doesn't look so nice. The local people also make a lot of noise during evenings en early in the morning.

Travelling alone can sometimes be difficult but the staff at this place made it so easy for me. In fact they were so friendly and hospitable when I arrived on the island of Koh Rong I only intended to stay for 2 days - in the end I decided to stay for Christmas and spent 2 weeks here because the staff became like family! The bungalows are basic but clean and in an excellent location. All in all I don’t have a bad word to say about this place - oh except the pillows could be a little less hard! 😁

I hate to give kind people a poor review but as a traveller I would have appreciated this as I booked based on the location and description, neither of which is accurate.The family running this guesthouse is very nice and trying their best so this is in no way a reflection on them or the service given, but rather on the facilities which you are paying to use.The small family kitchen is not a restaurant.The breakfast is quite fine of fried noodles or rice with hot tea and iced coffee (very good). The location is described as "prestigious" (laughable) and from their link provided is incorrectly located on googlemaps, shown on the beach just down from CoCos.They are located on the inland road on the way to Long beach.Why is it prestigious?No view, 5 min walk to beach, next to 6 confused roosters who crow at 2am on, 3 active construction sites... A tall concrete building is now covering Thien Arn's profile picture, built 2' away; so close you can touch the wall while standing outside your room. The accommodations are way below rustic, low even for the 3rd world.The building is a rough-cut wood structure with walls of individual bamboo pieces which keeps out no light, sound or bugs.The ceiling is a piece of cloth.The center wall goes up just past the "ceiling" so as sound barriers go it is like being in a large dorm room with curtains separating out “rooms”.You can hear everything!The bathroom has metal siding walls, a toilet, no sink, a simple hand-held shower, and a tap.Water splashing off the metal siding is surprisingly loud.And the water? Well, its cold (not mentioned). Unless you want a Swiss family Robinson type stay, this is not the place for you.At $15US, it is far from the cheapest stay on the island as places with WiFi right on the beach cost the same.We have been travelling for a year and besides the dirty mountain cabin in Java with no heat, broken windows, a dirty squat toilet and cold water bucket shower,nothing rates worse.

The owner, the staff were very kind, we stayed 7 nights, and the owner put us after 2 days to the other room, what is not very noisy, where we can relax more. Every time he welcomed us in the morning, asked what our plan, he offered nice round trip to the Long beach. The island is not a paradise, just to know. Shitty, too much garbage in the water and on the beach aswell. But anyway, we loved staying there for 1 week.

It is cheap but you have what you pay for. They asked for our passports and told us that they would give it back after we put our stuff in the room. When we came back, the passports we on a table in the restaurant without anyone the watch them. The staff just don't care. They don't try to speak or understand english. They have an english menu, even if you point at things or mime, they don't/try to understand. They made the room while we were waiting outside. They didn't change the sheets, they just made the bed. When we told them, they appologise and gave us another room with blood on the sheets. They finally changed the sheets...

Cute bungalows for $34/night, a little pricey for us but everything on Koh Rong was expensive. Fan and cold water shower only, not entirely insulated from the outdoors (a nice cooling mist over our bed the night it was pouring) but a comfortable bed, plenty of towels, mosquito net and lovely shaded porch. We also booked a boat tour through the front desk, including snorkeling, fishing, Long Beach BBQ and phytoplankton night swim. I would recommend having enough snorkel masks for everyone and having them ready to go but otherwise I thought everything was lovely.

The location is right on the beach in the 1st row, not 50 meters from Pier 3 away. Ideal for those who want to catch a ferry to the mainland or another island early in the morning. Ideal also for those who like to go out in the evening for dining or party, since the area between Pier 1 and Pier 3 is the most busy one. Less suitable for those who only want to enjoy peace and quietness in the beautiful nature. The rooms are small, but equipped with private toilet, shower and separate sink. The mattresses are relatively new and not worn, the room and the laundry clean. Everything we ate and drank was very good, the coffee making excellent, the service OK. The manager is Cambodian, speaks good English and is very helpful if you have questions or need assistance. So all in all, my recommendation, if you do not necessarily want to enjoy quiet evenings in seclusion. Die Lage ist direkt am Strand in der 1. Reihe, keine 50 Meter vom Pier 3 entfernt. Do not stay here! The bungalows is completely overstated. It is completely filled with construction guys from the nearby construction sites. When we checked in she said the room we reserved was full or the roof was leaking so she placed us in the plywood shack that was divided into 3 tiny rooms. Not a bungalow at all. The female owner was extremely rude and unhelpful. Also the ferry is not as listed on the website. We had to pay $35 to charter a private boat to get from the main side of the island. It takes multiple ferries to arrive at this side of koh Rong island and the last ferry was before 1 pm. We found multiple other places near this place that were much nicer and more friendly. Highly recommend koh Rong just not this hotel.

This guesthouse is right on the beach and just at the end of the village. It’s far enough to escape the noise of the loud music from the bars but close enough to being in the village in 2 minutes. Our first room was on the other side so we always had to sit on the balcony above reception to use our phones. But we moved room 10, right over the reception desk and WiFi was great! Beds are very comfortable and clean. Mosquito nets are functional. Bathrooms were clean and showers had great pressure. Limited to 1 min showers because we’re using the locals drinking water to shower in. The cleaning staff was very nice and helpful when you needed extra things like toilet paper towels, soaps and your room swept out of all the sand. The males at reception very cold and rude. A friend borrowed my sandals to trek the jungle and left them with reception. I come to find my sandals disappeared. Only problem i had with Smile guesthouse, otherwise it was great!

Nestled in the quiter part of Koh Toch beach in Koh Rong, White beach bunglows is the perfect destination on the island of Koh Rong. Pristine white sand, Turqoise waters are not just steps away, you have a clear view of them from your rooms. We stayed three nights, one night in bunglow 12 which was kind of a tree house with amazing views. The food menu is limited buy delicious and you have to keep in mind that you are living on an island. Every evening, there was a guy who showcased amazing martial arts skills eith fire which provided excellent entertainment. Only Con was the bathroom door lock which was malfunctional but we didnt mind it a lot Highly recommended!! Cheers to the team!!
