"Golden Lake Hotel is the only 5-star hotel in Kinmen; so, it really looks fancy and fabulous. I really thought so does the service! However, I remember there’s one night when I ran out of the shampoo which they only offer one tiny bottle a day! Then I called the front desk asking one more. Their response gave me a hard time: “I’m sorry but the toiletries we offer a day are fixed; that is, no more extra supply. If you need some more, you can go to the duty free stores right next to the hotel.” Then the receptionist on the phone just hung up. I was like.. really? Just a bottle of shampoo? Is that so much of a big deal? Anyway, the hotel itself truly is second to none in Kinmen; yet, the service is less than what I expected from its 5-star level. "

"We have already recommended this hotel to friends. The locatin is quite good - need car or scooter - although Kinmen is small and there is a very good system of tourist buses. We had a hire car. Suggestions for breakfast, real butter for the toast, a toaster oven for people to toast the chocolate topping (makes a big mess in the automatic toaster - not by us another guest), fruit jiuce and pork mince. The interestingmilitary these is in keeping with the island's recent history. Enjoyed our stay very much."

"It was great! Everything was clean and the food was great. The menu is in English as well. The staff can't speak much English, so it is best to know a bit of Chinese but they are great at Charades to get by. There are horses next to the hotel and it is located on the beach. Although you cannot swim on the beach, the view is amazing. She also helps you rent Ebikes, but it is now a law in Kinmen that you must have an international drivers license to rent it. But It would be nice to have a bell at the front desk counter because they staff was hard to reach on the hotel side of the desk. "
