Bora Bora Island hotels & places to stay

Brilliant level of service from the time my husband and I arrived. We were greeted by Melissa who showed us the resort and our villa. Highly recommend going for over the water villa. Breathtaking view and private. Waking up to that view of the crystal blue water is priceless and so relaxing. The team welcomed us with a bottle of champagne and truffle chocolates which added a lovely touch to our honeymoon which we enjoyed over our deck, gazing at stars in the night. You can hop on to an available bicycle and cycle round the resort or could do kayak as well. I have to commend once again for the top notch service of the team in Conrad Bora Bora Nui. Everyone we cross path with has such positive vibes and greets you Orana. Thank you for making this honeymoon an unforgettable one for us. Truly amazing.

Very good hotel. Not in front of Matina beach (only public beach in Bora Bora) but 10 min. walk, so very good located. Room was very clean and big. I stayed in an ocean view room with an amazing view of the sea and terrace. Buffet breakfast was very good (not included in my price) with yoghurt, cereal, ham, cheese, delicious croissants and chocolate bread, fruits, etc. Staff was nice and helpful. Restaurant was very good and with good prices (for French Polynesia). Walking distance you have a couple mini markets and some restaurants. 30 min. bike from Vaitape (city center).

A slice of paradise, hidden gem in Bora Bora. Lush grounds, simple but very comfortable bungalows. Great vegetarian cuisine! If you look for the big hotel chains, probably not for you. But if you like authentic flair, traveling off the beaten paths, family-owned places then go for it! It is an amazing place where time stops and you enjoy each day as it comes and with what it brings. Kayak, snorkel, siesta in a hammock or dreaming under the stars, live life fully at Blue Heaven Island!

We loved our stay. Alice and Raphael are so warm and gracious. They are as helpful as you want them to be, or they will leave you in complete peace if you like. They have invested everything they have in their pension and their home. They have chosen this very pure way of life for their family. The bungalows are very charming, tastefully decorated, and comfortable. Despite the bugs and humidity, we got the best sleep here. The view of the main island is to die for, better than the luxury resorts because only grass, trees, and beach stand in the way. Alice is a great chef; the meals here are a bargain compared to anywhere else in Bora Bora. Raphael will teach you windsurfing if you like and take you to the main island for a reasonable fee. We used the kayaks and paddleboard in the lagoon to watch the sunset and play in the lagoon. This place lacks the trappings of the luxury resorts, but what it gives in value, rejunevation, and respect for the environment is inspiring.

We choose the InterContinental Bora Bora Le Moana Resort wanting an affordable overwater bungalow for our honeymoon. To start we thought the resort was quite expensive, however following a trip into Vaitape it became apparent that the resort was well priced in terms of food and activities. We experienced no language barrier with reception or the concierge, however in the restaurant and in ordering room service we did experience a few problems, however this was manageable. The best thing about this resort is your access to Vaitape and the main beach. Definitely recommend booking the airport shuttle for a hassle free transfer from the airport to the resort, the staff were very helpful.

The decision to stay with Nir (owner) at his hotel was the best decision we made for our trip and will stay with him again when we go back. Nir has been in #borabora for over 30 years, and took over Rohotu 15 years ago. He can speak French, English, Tahitian, Italian, and German. He knew everyone and everything at Bora Bora. He booked every excursion and restaurant reservations without hesitation. He knew exactly which excursion companies were the best in town to give us the best experience that Bora had to offer. He was literally our driver when we wanted to go somewhere, and when he couldn’t, he lent us his bicycles to see the island. We can’t thank you enough for your wonderful hospitality and service. Bora Bora is perhaps the most strikingly lovely of the French Polynesian Islands. It is also - for tourists at least - an island of two faces. One face - which makes Bora Bora one of the most expensive places to visit - are the over-the-water bungalow resorts that are on the west and south sides of the island, mostly on the smaller islands that border the outer edges of the Bora Bora lagoon. These resorts are nice for people who want a packaged vacation including nightlife, and are willing to pay big time for it. The other face is mostly Vaitape, the commercial center of the island where the Polynesians live in largest numbers. Finding lodging here is much less expensive (a big plus if you are on a budget) and filling one's time requires willingness to get out on your own and experience all of Bora Bora first hand - from biking to hiking to snorkeling to boating to simply walking up and down the Main Street, taking meals at the food trucks, and enjoying sunsets on your own. If you are the type of visitor that enjoys the latter, then Sunset Hill Lodge is exactly the place for you - but beware, it is small and hosts only a handful of units. Make your reservation well in advance! We stayed in a one bedroom unit that had a back deck overlooking the water (about 150 meters down the hill). The unit is sparsely but adequately attired. Nothing fancy - after all the rental rate is just over $100/day - about 1/5th to 1/20th the daily rate of the Bungalows. It is just under 1KM to the twin center so expect to do some walking. There is a grocery, a couple restaurants and the wonderful food trucks to chose from. Also endless pearl shops and art galleries. If you seek Night Life, this is not the place for you. There is only one bar close by - at the Maitai Marina and restaurant. The owner - Gerard - is fabulous. He arranged trips and rentals for us. Plus he handled our laundry at no charge. There is no TV - though there is AC - so enjoy the marvelous view, it's colors, the grad

We really loved staying at Faretai Love. Annette and Marc go the extra mile for their guest. Picking us up at the airport, taking us to the grocery store, giving us discounted rates on day trips and car rental and complimentary bikes to use during our stay. The apartment was a short ten minute bike ride to a beautiful sandy beach. We loved the artwork in the apartment and the fully equipped kitchen to make meals at home. Everything was clean and comfortable making it a pleasure to return to after a day exploring the island. We were sad to leave such a great set up. If we return to Bora Bora, Faretai love would be our first choice.

Pearl Beach Resort was just what we needed to enjoy Bora Bora. The people and staff were absolutely brilliant, the facilities were fantastic, the food scrumptious, the overall setup was just the perfect mix of modern amenities yet remote island-ish. Right from the welcome, to the final checkout, everything that the resort provided was exactly what one would want on a couple getaway in Bora Bora. Their Ow bungalows open into an absolutely amazing lagoon, just right for swimming or chilling around, they have their own coral garden with some pretty good fishes, and the resort is quite beautifully made for some nice photography. They have enough staff at all times, and the overall maintenance and management of the resort made us so happy that we chose them. The only thing we had complain is the mosquitoes - but then again, thats Bora Bora+rains for you :) We will come back!

We only stayed one night on Bora Bora because we had heard how expensive it is but still wanted to experience it. We should have stayed longer because it really is worth every cent. From the moment you are picked up at the airport until you are dropped off again. The level of service, facilities, room amenities, food etc... is all fabulous value for money when you compare what you get for your money to other islands/hotels. The location is perfect with the best snorkeling in Bora Bora available from the hotel - save on paying for a snorkelling tour (all the tour boats go there) and the dinner packages are excellent value for money. We did the romance one and although it rained it was still held in the restaurant. free-flowing champagne and canapes to start, then a perfect 3 course meal including foie gras entree and lobster main options (the steak was better - lobster was overcooked, buy your own drinks during the meal) and polynesian show, all for around $200 AUD per person. You would pay at least that much if not more in any 5 star hotel in the world. There are only a small number of bungalows at the hotel, so it is not crowded or busy and you can take the free shuttle over to their sister hotel on the main island. Definitely recommend this hotel as the place to stay in Bora Bora.

The Bora Bora Eco Lodge is a fantastic place to stay if you are looking for good accommodation at a reasonable cost. The rooms are very clean and have kitchen facilities if you wish to self-cater. Breakfast is also available for a small cost. The Eco Lodge is a great place to relax and unwind with water views and a large garden. Caroline the owner made us feel very welcome and was available whenever we needed anything including booking restaurants and taxis. She also offered a free shuttle service to and from the airport ferry.
