Traveling to Indonesia? Find Berastagi hotels

The hotel located at the juction walk up to Mount Sibayak and Mount Gundaling. Room was spacious, bed was big. The hotel staff Johanis did arrange the Mount Sibayak trip & Berastagi to Parapat car for us. He was very friendly and the driver and also the tour guide he recommended us is Mai. Mai is very friendly, talkative and he gave us a lot of information which making our trip very comfortable & enjoyable. He brought us to tradisional batak village, ancient king's pallace and Si Piso piso waterfall on tje way to Parapat for only Idr 600, 000. My children like uncle Mai very much & his good service, we decided to book him for bring us back to Medan after Lake Toba trip.

Because it was chinese new year and we arrived late i got a lousy noisy room with no view. don't chose a room in 9 series on ground floor as louvred glass is all that protects you from screaming children passing by 2 meters away from bed. our complaint was well-reeceived and we were upgraded to a deluxe room for minimal extra charge. these rooms on the Funland side are spacious and well designed. No plugs to charge phones etc in any room. Wi-fi in lobby and restaurant only. Reception a bit sleepy and soviet-era service( if you order a two boxed breakfasts) for a 4 a m dept , the orders must be identical . despite these problems its easily the nicest hotel in Berastagi and the location is excellent.

Sinabung Hills is a really majestically located resort ! High mountains, crisp air and stunning views ! Although the furniture is old and the rooms need a facelift, telltale renovation works are being carried out in stages. It is really a pristine location, very near (15km) to not one but two fairly active volcaones ! Mount Sibayak (2051 metres) and the more ominous Mount Sinabung(2451 metres) which erupted recently ! There are also hot springs(one with volcanic ash for therapeutic skin !) and rainforest trekking with good guides available at the nearby town of Berastagi below. No problems with hot water in rooms. The large swimming pool uses nice, mountain spring water with little chlorine. The sprawling lawns with a park is good to gaze at the stars for lovers and young at heart ! The staff were friendly and helpful. Also the restaurant served very good food (Chinese, Indon, Western) at fair prices. The place is perfect for couples, families, corporate functions and events like marriage ceremonies. I truly recommend this place even though no minivans go up the hill after 8pm. I am definitely going back !

This place is very close to a mosque so expect loud calls over the speakers at around 5am. No basin in bathroom. The bathroom is quite dirty. Not sure if this is relevant, but us Asian travellers were treated differently than Caucasian travellers. We got the feeling we were unwelcome there. Location wise, it's very near to the fruits market and shops. A highly recommended tour agency (for Berastagi day tours and back to Parapat) is at the same row with a Muslim restaurant. Look for Walter and tell him Seeyuan says hi! :D

Jimmy and his wife are very helpful and friendly. There was a bit of misunderstanding about our breakfast, it was included in our booking but at arrival we found out that it is not. Jimmy’s wife greatly made this up to us by making us breakfast in the morning in her own kitchen. On our last day Jimmy invited us to go to the hot springs, took us out for lunch and taught us a lot about the local environment and culture. I would recommend staying at this place, about a 10 minute walk to the centre of Berastagi and a 5 minute walk to Jabu; a beautiful old restaurant on top of a hill.

The environment is good. Quiet and serene. However due to the lack of proper maintenance of the villa, it's spoiled everything. When we arrived Green Hill City, we were surprised that there was not even a check in counter. A cleaner helped us to locate the villa from the picture shown from the Agoda's reply letter. There's no block number of the villa indicated in the letter. If without the cleaner's help, how could we find our villa among the hundred villas in Green Hill City? And thank God, the cleaner known the caretaker's of our villa and gave us his contact. If not, we will be sleeping over night open air at the Brastagi mountain.... We were really disappointed by Agoda's service for this booking. We have been your faithful customer and hope that Agoda can maintain its service standard by ensuring the hotels and villas advertised have keep up it quality. Thank you.

I had a great time at Smiley's home! The family is very helpful and friendly and open minded. they have a great knowledge about the area and show you many beautiful places you must have seen in Berastagi. cecilia took me to the market. she cooks incredibly good, self-baked bread, banana pancake, many great local dishes and we had always fresh fruits. Smiley took us to his local bar, where we sang together and drank from the local wine. We had a great evening. I can smiley's home stay 100% recommend. I felt at home.

It was good and this hotel might be the best hotel in Berastagi area, yet still have plenty or rooms of improvement. Instead of going out to have dinner, my aunties who visited this hotel quite often recommended us to have dinner in the hotel and indeed it's a good choice. However, the breakfast is too simple. Not much choices and doesn't taste so good. Pool was not that clean although we saw a staff was cleaning the pool at that time. Room's carpet is dirty and old but the bed itself is OK. The restroom is spacious with shower and bathtub inside. Internet is only available at lobby area. Lobby area is prettier than some others popular hotels in that area.

We choose this resort because there are no more available room in any berastagi's hotel that can be booked online during our travel date. We're a little bit scared because of the bad reviews about this resort. This resort is around 15 minutes driving from pasar buah berastagi. But everything was changed! We're totally the impressed with the staff that is very polite, helpful and cooperative. She accompanied us until the room, setup the tv channel, provide hot drinks and give a big discount for driver's room. All the staff are very polite. They even send the breakfast to our room and dinner to the pool. The food is not so good. But we enjoy nite hot spring.

The hotel is still very new, I was told they just started a couple months ago. Obviously there are still a lot of things need to be improved. The room was comfortable but the water heater wasn't working but I didn't complain because I thought it wasn't a big deal. (I'm sure they'll be very helpful if we asked them to fix it.) The only thing that amused me so much was the lobby. The lobby was cozy and relaxing. I can see the owner put a lot of effort to the lobby. The hotel was located in a residence area, a village (kampung), the environment was beautiful especially in the morning. It was few km from the town but it was not a problem since we rented a car. Mt. Sinabung can be seen clearly from here as well. The staffs are vey helpful & friendly especially the manager. They shared lots of tips & info about Berastagi. By the way, this hotel is actually a half-homestay and half-hotel. The rooms are hotel but the lobby was more to homestay style.
