A'Sharqiyah Sands (Wahiba) hotels & places to stay

The location and the staff are the key to this place. The beds are wide and very comfortable and we found it easy to keep cool or warm as required as days are hot and nights cool. The food is plentiful and exceeded our expectations. An unexpected chorus of birdsong is ever present between sunrise and sunset. Our driver guide was superb sharing with us his knowledge of the desert and the best places to experience the subtleties of the beauty of the Wahiba and nearby places such as Wadi Bani Khaled. He, and most of the staff have a sensitive and understated approach making us feel their true hospitality which is remarkable as most guests stay only one night - it deserves at least a three night stay to get under the skin of the place. The sunrise tour is worth getting out of bed for. Let's hope they don't let quad bike riders take over as they can be noisy on occasion - the Camp has restrictions on when they can be used which is essential.

Surprising Birthday event conducted by my wife with the complete support of the Restaurant Manager & Team with the sweet traditional wish by the musician. They are very cooperative & Surprisingly they haven't charged me for the cake and arrangement. Felt like home.... Thanks.... Samidurai - Muscat.

if you wish to have desert experience with a desert drive around 25 KM, this is the one. This resort gives you an amazing experience by retaining nature intact with cosy lighting at night, with star amenities such as exceptionally good dinner, nice breakfast, some sort of cultural insight, sand dune bashing, camel ride, rising sunshine and overall the beauty of sand dunes to the fullest satisfaction. climbing the sandy hill with family and friends, spending the night, relax & retreat with Nature... that too with comfort by renting various tent options... So really worth stay, those who love nature. be careful while selecting the season/time of stay and the temperature at that time.

This remote camp was a highlight of our trip to Oman! Rooms were lovely and nicely laid out. I really liked the netting for the beds so we could throw the windows open. Bathroom was clean and stocked with shampoo, soap, and even toothbrushing kits if you forgot. Meals were fantastic! The grilled chicken kabobs were the best we’ve ever had! Staff was friendly and helpful. The true highlight for us cost a little extra but was well worth it! I highly recommend the sunset camel ride. What a treat! Don’t miss taking photos of the incredible patterns in the sands of the dunes. Don’t expect WiFi or anywhere to charge your devices, and you likely won’t get phone service there anyway. I would suggest hiring a ride in to camp. It would be easy to get lost driving yourself.

Very bad experience. The rooms were very small with small window. There was concrete bed, and so it was uncomfortable. Large group of.families and bachelors made it uncomfortable, by making noise all night long, and having their rooms open with TV on and watching others. Though this was told to hotel staff, nothing was done. Breakfast was way below the standard of any hotel.

We picked this camp as it was not as expensive as many of the other camps around Wahiba Sands. It was not really value for money like a lot of the accommodation in Oman. It was a bit disorganized with no clear instructions after arriving at the camp when some of us were given coffee, dates and fruit. We were under the impression we had our own separate bathroom but turned out we shared with another couple and although the bathroom was very clean the floor flooded from the drain when the basin tap was turned on. The sandunes were impressive and it was good to climb one to see the sunset and the stars were nice at night and the solitude after the generator had been turned off and the rowdy German group had gone to sleep. We had a 2wd and were told we could not drive into the desert although it would have been possible. They wanted to charge us OMR25 or $75 to take us by 4WD the 20kms to the camp and back. This was very excessive as a full tank of petrol costs $20. We luckily got a lift from a friendly couple with a 4WD and left our car at the office for the night. Dinner was fine given the facilities at the camp and breakfast was adequate.

A delightful place out in the desert. Very friendly owner will pick you up from nearby town. A real pleasure chatting with him about local life etc. The camp itself is very beautiful nestling between the dunes. It's a huge effort to maintain a camp in the desert when you realise every drop of water and food needs to be transported there so it's going to be more expensive than a hotel in town. I loved the peacefulness of the place, walking in the dunes or just reading in the shade in the camp. My one disappointment was that it wasn't far enough away from light pollution. They will turn off the lights in the camp if you ask. But there were still glows on the horizon coming from the town which is quite a way away. I'd still thoroughly recommend the experience.

A really lovely overnight trip. The owner met us at the office and escorted us to the camp. Omani coffee and dates awaited us. Had a great walk up the sand dunes for sunset then down to a tasty and well presented evening meal. The highlight was sitting around a roaring fire under the stars, incense burning and taking in the unique desert silence and calmness . We were really well looked after and had a brilliant time. Go- you won't be disappointed!!

We didn't have as positive experience as everyone else's reviews unfortunately. The tent is lovely, and the location is great in the dunes. However we did not find the staff very welcoming at all. It was a shame as we chose this camp as everyone mentioned it was small, private, with great staff so we decided to pay a lot more thinking it would be worth it. We were driven to the camp and not really spoken to at all on the way there. It would have been nice to be told something about Oman, the desert, Bedouins. Also at the camp staff never spoke to us. They dropped us on some dunes without saying anything and went of with other guests. After sunset it got very cold with children and it took long for them to collect us. The food was quite nice, however I think they forgot I was vegetarian and was provided just an egg as substitute. In hindsight I would have booked a cheaper camp, I would prefer to have hospitality then nice facilities. We received very kind hospitality in Oman but not here. It was so much money for us to pay, and I feel they need to improve if they want to charge this much. Tent and view is great if this is all you want!
